The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1165

The nurse frowned and said, “You should pay more attention to your boyfriend. The IV drip is empty, and we’re very busy. We nurses can’t be in every room all the time.”

Blake apologetically replied, “I went back to the company to get some documents. I’m not his girlfriend; I’m his assistant.”

The nurse responded, “He’s been calling a family member’s name. You should go check on him. It’s not okay for a patient to be alone.”

Blake smiled and nodded. “Okay, I understand.”

When she entered the ward and saw Liam with his eyes open, she quickly put down what she was carrying and walked to him. “Liam, you’re awake. Are you feeling better?”

Liam’s gaze was unfocused as he stared at Blake. When he extended his hand, she instructively grabbed his hand and helped tuck it under the blanket. “Rest well, I’m right here. Just call me if you feel uncomfortable.”

Liam said, “D-Don’t leave me.”

He held Blake’s hand, refusing to let go. Blake had no choice but to say, “I still have work to do. I need to submit the documents tomorrow.”

Liam was in a VIP ward with a fully equipped kitchen, Blake made a call and ordered two servings of soup before she started working.

She worked until half past ten. Liam’s body temperature had dropped considerably, and he was in a deep sleep. He had been frail and sickly before this, but Blake wondered why he had suddenly fallen ill.

Blake was very hungry. She looked at her phone and suddenly remembered she had two takeout orders waiting to be picked up.

At this hour, the hospital was nearly deserted, and the VIP ward was eerily quiet. After she took the elevator downstairs, the receptionist handed her the soup, which had already cooled.

She then went upstairs with the insulated bag. As she exited the elevator and turned the corner to the left, she saw a familiar figure in a ward from the corner of her eye.

She thought, ‘Why is he here?’

Blake took out her phone and realized Kevin still had not replied to her messages.

‘How could he come to the hospital and not inform me?’

She had just taken a few steps forward when she heard a scream from that ward.

Kevin’s face was splattered with blood. His cold, emotionless eyes did not even flicker. The bloodthirsty look in his eyes sent a shiver down Blake’s spine.

She stood still and watched him say, Finish the job.”

She pondered, ‘Finish the job?’

Even though Blake was not the smartest, she knew what he meant. She had never seen this side of Kevin before. She found his eyes terrifying and unfamiliar. ‘He’s Kevin; I’m not mistaken.’

Blake could not see everything. She only saw a shirtless tattooed man pass by. Blake realized she had seen this man this morning.

She pondered, ‘Is this who Kevin really is?’

Blake felt as if she had never truly known Kevin at all.

He slowly wiped the blood off his face. He seemed to have noticed something and coldly glanced toward the gap in the door. He looked right at Blake, who was standing near the elevator.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
