The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 1164 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1164

Liam’s body suddenly collapsed onto Blake. She was forced to lean backward and hugged him. Sensing his abnormal body temperature, she hurriedly called his name, “Liam?”

Liam did not respond. She had no choice but to temporarily help him onto the couch and have him lie down.

“Why’s his fever so high?” Blake held her phone, intending to call for an ambulance. But suddenly, her wrist was grabbed by Liam’s scorching hand, as if he was seeking some comfort. He held her tightly.

After Blake finished calling, she reached out to feel Liam’s forehead. ”

The ambulance will be here soon, just bear with it a little longer.”

After that, Blake looked at him intensely. She had heard everything he said when she came in just now, including him asking her to like him.

Blake had never imagined that Liam would fall for someone like her. She found Liam extremely kind, so she thought he would like someone gentle and elegant, like an official’s daughter, just like Audrey. Blake heard from Kevin that Liam’s family background was complicated, and his family had been waiting for him to return.

Blake pondered, ‘The past is the past. If one could choose, who’d want to be alone away from their family?’

She followed the ambulance and went to the hospital.

Liam’s fever almost reached 104 Fahrenheit. If he had been sent to the hospital a little later, the consequences would have been serious.

After being administered a fever- reducing injection by the doctor, Liam lay on the hospital bed, attached to an IV drip, sleeping soundly. Blake had brought her laptop with her as she still had some things to do.

Blake spent the whole day taking care of Liam in the hospital. At six in the evening, she felt hungry, so she decided to go downstairs to buy something to eat. That was when she saw a man who looked more feminine than a woman, wearing a white coat and putting on a mask as he walked past her.

Blake stopped with a puzzled expression, turned her head, and looked at his face. ‘He seems so familiar; I feel like I’ve seen him somewhere before.’

However, Blake could not recall where she had seen him.

She then made a quick trip back to the company to take some documents. With Liam being sick, there were tasks that only she could take care of. There were not many editors at StartReading Literary, and all of them had their own responsibilities. Sometimes, when they were too busy, they would even forget to eat.

After grabbing the documents, Blake bought a sandwich from a vending machine and took a bite at it. She then went downstairs to leave by car.

She wondered when Liam would wake up as there was still a lot of work waiting for him.

Blake checked her phone again. From morning until now, she had sent over a dozen messages to Kevin, but he had not replied to any of them yet.

Kevin was not working in the company anymore, so Blake wondered what he was so busy with.

On her way back to the hospital, it started raining heavily.

The already chilly weather became even colder.

Blake covered half of her face with her scarf and ran into the hospital with a briefcase. The hospital was heated, so it was not too cold. She ate the sandwich in her hand as she walked. As she was about to enter the elevator, she was frightened by the people inside- several men with menacing looks. They all had tattoos and one of them was even shirtless. The stench of alcohol surrounded them, and they gave off an aura reminiscent of criminal gangs from old movies.

“Miss, are you coming in or not? Come on, don’t waste our time!”

Blake chuckled nervously. She took a few steps back and said, “It’s fine. Please go ahead.”

She then took the other elevator and went to the ward. As she entered, a nurse was coming out. Blake asked, Hi, how is his condition? Has he gotten any better?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
