The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1163

Blake held onto Kevin’s arm. The two of them walked intimately hand in hand to the underground parking lot. Blake asked, “Where are you going today? When will you be back? Can you pick me up after I finish work tonight?”

Kevin replied, “It depends. I’m not usually this free.”

Blake was unhappy. “Kevin Harrison, you’re not working in the company anymore. What are you busy with every day? You promised yesterday to give us a try. Why can’t you prioritize me? Or you can tell me what you’re busy with!”

Kevin’s current plans involved shady and nefarious deeds, so there was no way he could tell Blake about them.

Zach was still in a coma, and Kevin was not really sure what he should do next.

Cecilia had already started making big moves, preparing to take over the company. So, Kevin believed what he needed to do now was to hurry and finish what needed to be done.

Kevin thought, ‘Blake staying by my side will only be a burden. Since there are things I can’t tell her, I’ll wait for her enthusiasm to fade, and she’ll leave on her own.’

“Just focus on your own work,” Kevin responded. It was during the morning rush hour, and the traffic was a bit congested. Blake held the yogurt in her hand, looking unhappy.

She thought, ‘I’m afraid I might never experience Kevin comforting me.’

They arrived near the company ten minutes before Blake had to clock in at the company. They were incredibly punctual. Jardin Tower was just nearby; it would take her only three minutes to get there.

Kevin asked, “What are you still waiting for?”

When Kevin turned his head to look at Blake, she leaned in and kissed him near his mouth. “Call me when you’re done with your stuff. Whether you come to look for me, or I go and look for you, I’m okay with both.”

Kevin was left stunned by her kiss.

After unbuckling her seatbelt, Blake held herself and ran to the company’s entrance against the wind. She managed to clock in on time.

She looked back and saw Kevin was still there.

The air conditioning was on in the office. Everyone seemed somber as if something huge had happened. She whispered to an editor, “What’s going on?”

The editor responded, “It’s Mr. Xander. Not sure what happened, but he scolded Maggie. She’s still crying in the pantry. Hard to believe Mr. Xander could be so terrifying when he’s angry.”

Blake pondered, ‘Liam got angry? How’s that possible? He’s always been very calm and gentle.’

Blake knocked on Liam’s office door and saw him sitting at his desk. When he turned around, she was slightly taken aback. “W-What happened? Why are your eyes so red? Did you pull another all-nighter writing?”

Liam saw the clothes she was wearing, stood up quickly, and suddenly went to hug Blake. He lowered his head, and his eyes were filled with pain.

He slowly spoke in a husky, low voice, ” Can you… not be with him? Whatever he does for you, I can do too. Can you be with me instead?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
