The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 1162 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1162

Kevin was not one to linger in bed. Seeing Blake wanting to sleep more, he prepared to get up. However, she pulled him back into bed. “It’s only six o’clock. I still have over an hour before work. Just grab some extra shut-eye.”

“You…” Kevin had never encountered someone so troublesome. Blake forced him to lie down and used his arm as a pillow. Kevin’s tone turned chilly, ” We’re not married, so watch what you’re doing, Blake.”

With her eyes closed, Blake replied calmly, “Darling, we’re living in a new age. Why are your ideas so old- fashioned? Have you ever even been in a relationship before?”

Kevin gave up when he found he could not retrieve his hand. “You think I have time for those things?”

Blake rolled over to face him. “So, what’s the deal with Ms. Parker? Why would you even give her your suit if you’re not good with relationships? Did you see her shivering with cold and decide to play the gentleman?”

Blake made a gun gesture, pressing it against Kevin’s forehead. “Come on, spill the beans. What’s the deal with you and Ms. Parker? She visited you last night, and I told her we’re together. She didn’t seem happy and stormed off. 11

Blake scrutinized his expression. It remained unchanged and seemingly unfazed. Noticing his reluctance to talk, she swiftly altered her approach. ” Let me tell you what to do if you’re not good with relationships. The first thing is to be honest. Come on, spill it.”

Kevin’s gaze shifted away from Blake’s starry eyes, “Audrey is the mayor’s daughter. Earlier, Mr. Parker organized a dinner party intending to introduce Audrey to Mr. Jardin. We couldn’t turn down the invitation, so I had to attend it in place of Mr. Jardin. Afterward, I encountered Audrey having an asthma attack in the elevator, and I helped her out.”

Hearing no movement from the person beside him, Kevin glanced over to find Blake deep in slumber again. Kevin slowly withdrew his hand, lifted the covers, got out of bed, and massaged his numb arms.

‘With her attitude, she’s bound to get in trouble sooner or later, even if she’s out of Cecilia’s control.’

Blake was sound asleep until her phone started buzzing, waking her up for the second time. In a half-asleep daze, she put on her slippers and heard the conversation emanating from the study. When her footsteps approached, the conversation inside immediately halted.

Blake groggily asked, “Do you have any clothes that would suit me? I have to go to work.”

Kevin said, “The walk-in closet is on the left side of the bathroom. There are some new clothes inside. Get them yourself. I’m going out in a while, so make sure you close the door.”

Blake grabbed Kevin, who was walking past her. “Is there anything more important than me? Aren’t you going to drive me to work? A good boyfriend would do that.”

Kevin casually fastened his expensive wristwatch, “You have fifteen minutes to get ready. I’ll drop you off at the office on my way.”

“No. Ten minutes will be enough for me.” Blake hurriedly ran to the room. Just then, Kevin’s phone in his pocket vibrated.

[Things are in motion. Be on your guard.]

Kevin expressionlessly pocketed the phone. Blake walked to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of yogurt for breakfast. She wore Kevin’s deep gray shirt inside and the floor-length pants that were too long for her. She rolled it up at the ankles and put on Kevin’s work coat as an outer layer. Blake, at 5 feet 5 inches tall, wore the coat that reached just above her ankles perfectly.

“I’m ready. Let’s go.”

Kevin scanned her from head to toe without saying much. Seeing him leave, Blake quickly closed the door and ran after him. “Wait for me!”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
