The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 1047 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1047

Blake lay on the couch with an adoring gaze, tilting her head as she watched the person who looked handsome even when reading documents.

The staff in the Administrative Department were jealous that she got to work as Kevin’s assistant. They thought being able to see his good looks every day could make their food taste better.

After Kevin finished his work, Blake switched off the last main switch, and they stepped into the elevator to go down. Coincidentally, a group of coworkers who had just finished work emerged from the adjacent elevator on the ground floor, excitedly discussing plans to grab some late-night snacks.

One bold female colleague among them called to Kevin, “Mr. Harrison, did you guys also just finish work? How about grabbing a bite with us? With the company landing such a big project, it wouldn’t be right if Mr. Harrison didn’t treat us!”

“Yes! We rarely work this late. Mr. Harrison, please join us for late-night snacks!” The colleagues behind them all chimed in.

“If you guys aren’t tired, we’ll continue working overtime tomorrow,” said Kevin. He knew how to disrupt the mood well. With just a few words, he silenced everyone instantly.

The person who had just started the ruckus grabbed Blake and whispered to her, “Blake, it’s rare for us to have a chance to interact with Mr. Harrison. You’ve got to make the most of it for us, or else we shared all this gossip with you for nothing. We’ve got some fresh gossip and can secretly tell you during meals.”

Blake gave her colleague a thumbs-up and said, “I’ve got this.”

Then, Blake approached Kevin and asked, “Mr. Harrison, I’m hungry. How about grabbing some late-night snacks?”

Kevin asked, “Since when did you start joining them in making a fuss? Aren’t you tired?”

Blake grinned, “I just got a good nap! Come with us! I bet them five hundred dollars you’d come. If you do, I’ll split the winnings. Two hundred dollars for you.”

“Not interested,” said Kevin.

Blake continued, “Hey! You can’t be that greedy! I’ll give you three hundred dollars, okay?”

When Kevin took out his car keys from his pocket, Blake quickly grabbed his hand and looked into his eyes. She said, “Starting tomorrow, I’ll be your driver after work for a month.”

Kevin’s icy face showed a subtle shift in emotion as he smiled. He tossed the car keys to Blake and said, “Remember what you said.”

‘She involved just for that five hundred dollars? Didn’t she feel she was the one who lost out?’ Kevin thought.

Blake was driving Kevin’s car with three passengers in the back. The silence inside was eerie as if it was empty. Another car was tailing them. They eventually reached a night market and stopped at a grill stall.

Kevin’s presence made the atmosphere a bit uneasy. Blake secretly received the payment and chuckled to herself.

While Blake was enjoying her meal, she did not forget to pour a glass of water for Kevin. During this period, her main task was to keep Kevin’s preferences in mind. Coffee during the day and water at night.

“Mr. Harrison, I don’t know if you’re into this late-night snack stall. We can go to a different restaurant next time if you don’t like it. I know a French restaurant that’s particularly delicious.

“Yes! How about we go tomorrow?”

They worried Kevin might decline, so they discreetly nudged Blake. She agreed with her mouth full of food, ” I’m fine as long as I’m not paying.”

A colleague teased, “Blake, you’re pretty tight-fisted. With a salary like yours, you could treat us to dinner. Why not use this chance to do so? We’ll pay next time.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
