The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1044

Liam had not left yet and asked, “Why didn’t you give her the latte you bought?”

Blake picked up the remaining three lattes and said, “Madelyn had surgery before and still recovering, so she can’t drink this. Besides, it’s been out for so long. If she got sick from drinking it, Mr. Jardin might kill me. You don’t know how scary he can be.”

Blake took a deep breath and continued, “It’s up to me to finish it all.

Zach had recently upgraded to a luxurious new Bentley. He spent most of his time by Madelyn’s side while making preparations for their wedding. The new car offered a smooth ride and had plenty of space. Besides the drinks and food, it was mostly filled with baby supplies.

Zach asked Madelyn, “Have you met him?”

Madelyn replied, “Mhm, he’s quite young. I think Blake is dating Liam. They seem like a perfect match.”

Zach’s expression kept changing throughout the conversation. It turned gloomy at the start before returning to normal.

“You’re already married, so stop dreaming about him,” Zach said, his tone filled with possessiveness.

However, Madelyn argued straight to the point, “You have to admit that Liam is very talented. He wrote “At the Horizon’s End” when he was sixteen and published it at seventeen. He then started adapting his stories for various companies. Most importantly, he’s much younger than you.”

Zach was not angry. Instead, he slowly unbuttoned his suit and rolled his sleeves up. He said to her, “I think you’re being cheeky. The Strategic Planning Department secured the rights to adapt Liam’s work. They’re probably finalizing a contract with Sky Studios as we speak. Soon, you’ll be adapting Liam’s work on your own. Satisfied now?”

Madelyn lowered her head and thought deeply. She replied, “I can’t draw right now. I’ve asked for time off from the studio and taking a break for the next month.”

Zach gave her a warning look and said, “Jardin Corporation is funding the entire project for Sky Studios. The pay will be ten times the usual. Are you sure you want to pass?”

Madelyn looked out the window and then looked back at Zach with a smile. She said, “Since you’re so wealthy and generous, it would be a shame not to get the paycheck. I’ll think of it as earning to buy Dalton’s clothes.”

“If the broadcast for “At the Horizon’s End” reaches the expected result, I’ll give you an extra 35% as a bonus,” Zach said generously. Madelyn thanked Zach jokingly, ” Thank you, Mr. Jardin.”

For Madelyn, Zach was sometimes a responsible husband, her brother, and sometimes even her boss.

Sky Studios was just a tiny art studio, and accepting this project from Jardin Corporation was a blessing for them. Many companies have been fighting for the rights to “At the Horizon’s End” and the Jardin Corporation has spent fifty million to acquire its copyright.

Madelyn knew that Zach was using this to bind her down. She did not think Zach had lowered his guard around her throughout this period. He knew she wanted to leave.

She was waiting for the right moment. Zach also knew that she had an accomplice. Although Zach knew that Kai was helping her and about the things they were doing behind his back. Zach was confident that Madelyn would not be able to leave Ventropolis. She might be an elusive prey, but Zach was a skillful hunter.

After Blake was full from eating, she walked out of The Deli with Liam. While waiting for the car, a familiar vehicle suddenly appeared before her. The windows winded down, and Kevin stared at them coldly. He ordered her, ” Get in the car.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
