The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1034

Blake did not receive a response from Kevin after sending him that text. She seemed bewitched as she held her phone, staring at it.

After two minutes passed without receiving a reply from Kevin, Blake then lay on the sofa staring at the ceiling above. She put her phone on her chest. She could not understand why Kevin would ask her to be her girlfriend.

She acknowledged that she could not resist the allure of someone like Kevin. Every girl in the company would be happy for the entire day just from exchanging a few words with him.

All the female employees in the company were attracted to Kevin, but he was always focused on work. Blake rarely saw him engage in any non-work -related activities. Not only was Kevin very good-looking, but his income was also said to be three times that of the company’s top executives.

His cold personality was his only flaw.

His cold demeanor made everyone feel he was not easily approachable. Previously, there had been a very beautiful intern at Jardin Corporation, who had been the prettiest girl in the entire company. She had stepped on Kevin’s foot, and it seemed like she had done so intentionally to get his attention.

As a result of that incident, she had been fired less than three days after being hired, crying hysterically as she left.

According to the person who leaked the information, the girl was the daughter of a mayor, and had joined the company specifically to get closer to Kevin.

Blake witnessed the entire incident and realized that Kevin had indeed shown her mercy.

The mistakes she had made when she first arrived at the company were more than just stepping on his foot, but Kevin had not punished Blake, besides complaining that she was being noisy.

Everyone in the secretary’s office envied Blake for being able to work alongside Kevin. And Blake was also the only person who had been able to work alongside Kevin for so long.

Ever since Blake had found out that she was being manipulated by Kevin and requested to resign, she had always felt like there was a pair of eyes watching her from behind, as her desk in the company was right across from his.

Blake had once narcissistically thought that Kevin had been secretly interested in her for a long time but had been reluctant to confess to her in order to save face. However, she never imagined that she would actually attract his attention.

Blake removed her phone from her chest and went to the bathroom. She looked at herself in the mirror. She had a standard oval face shape, almond- shaped eyes, and well-proportioned features. She said, “I’m not ugly at all! It’s not surprising at all if he really likes me! Maybe he isn’t attracted to my looks but rather my cheerful and cute personality!”

Blake did indeed have feelings for Kevin, but she thought a person like him would not be interested in her.

Now that they were together, she felt like this was a dream.

A slight vibration echoed in the living room. Blake took a deep breath and hurriedly went to the living room. She grabbed her phone, only to find it was a news notification.

Blake disappointedly sat on the sofa, ” I’m your girlfriend now. Why can’t you take the initiative to chat with me?

“Forget it, you’re such an introvert. I guess you’ve never been in a relationship. I’ll forgive you.”

Blake let out a sigh. After ten minutes, she sent him another message.

She asked: [What are the benefits of being your girlfriend?]

Kevin came out of the bathroom and was ready to work overtime in the study. When he heard his phone vibrate on the table, he picked it up to look at it. He looked cold as he replied: [ There’s no benefit. Don’t be late for work tomorrow.]

Blake looked at the instant reply and quickly typed: [What were you doing? Why did you take so long to reply to me? What do you mean there are no benefits? If that’s the case, why would I even want to be your girlfriend?!]

Before she pressed the send button, she hesitated and deleted the last sentence.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
