The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1033

Blake continued to say, “The annual salary of the design department’s head isn’t even as much as Xander’s monthly income from his novel.”

Kevin said, “Enough!” He suddenly yelled sternly. Blake was frightened and immediately kept quiet. She did not take it personally as she was used to being scolded.

Their brief conversation ended.

She shrugged and chose to quietly use her phone.

Upon reaching Blake’s residential area, Blake, who was engrossed in the recently updated novel, took out some money from her wallet and put it down, “Thank you for driving me back! Consider this money as the fare.”

After she left the money, she continued to pay full attention to her phone. She opened the car door and left.

“Blake Dion!”

Kevin suddenly called her. He gripped the steering wheel tightly and seemed to be contemplating something. Blake turned around to look at him, ” Yes?”

Kevin rolled down the car window and said, “Be my girlfriend.”

Blake was surprised.

She froze and her pupils gradually dilated. She was extremely shocked. She forgot to breathe when she heard what Kevin said. A drop of rain happened to fall on her nose. And that was when she slowly took a breath.

Kevin looked away and said coldly, “My journey back takes thirty-five minutes. I hope you can give me an answer by the time I reach my destination.”

Blake blinked her eyes. When the rain became heavier, she finally came back to her senses. She hurried to the hallway to take shelter from the rain. She was still in shock.

She slapped her face forcefully, “I’m not dreaming, am I?”

After Blake got home, she sat on the sofa. She stared blankly for a long time as she listened to the rhythmic ticking of the clock hanging on the wall. She seemed hypnotized. She sat still and took a long time to come to her senses.

After some time had passed, she heard her phone vibrate.

Kevin asked: [Do you have an answer?]

Blake almost went crazy when she saw the message!

Her heart was pounding very fast.

She covered her chest, “What’s happening? My heart is beating so fast, and my hands are shaking non-stop. Am I going to die?

“Kevin asked me to be his girlfriend! Is this real?!

“Is this real?!”

She had never been this nervous, not even when she had made a mistake on a contract that nearly cost the company a business deal worth a few million dollars.

She picked up the cup in front of her and drank it all in one gulp. After taking a deep breath, she said, ” Whatever, I’ll accept him!”

She lay on the sofa. She had a dreamy and surreal feeling due to her intense heartbeat.

Besides work-related matters, she rarely texted with Kevin. After she blocked his phone number, they could only text each other.

Blake sent him a message: [Let’s give it a try then?]

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
