The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1035

After she sent the text, Kevin did not reply to her again. Blake came out of the bathroom after taking a shower. She held her phone and went back to her room. She then unlocked her phone and found that Kevin still had not replied. She was upset. She stared at her phone and complained, “Come on, can’t you be a little proactive?!

“Forget it, I’ll sleep now.”

She rolled around on her bed with her eyes closed, unable to sleep. She would occasionally open her eyes to look at her phone.

She then started staring at the conversation with Kevin. She finally checked the time, and it was three- thirty in the morning. She could not take it anymore. She sat up and rubbed her scalp, “I’m going to go crazy. Why did I agree to be your girlfriend?!

“I’m just bringing trouble to myself!”

Blake angrily typed: [Let’s break up. You find someone else to be your girlfriend!]

But before she could send the message, she received a text.

Kevin texted: [I just finished work. I’m going to sleep now.]

Blake instantly suppressed her idea of breaking up with him. She replied: [ Okay, good night.]

The conversation ended.

Blake could not sleep that night. She looked exhausted when she arrived at the office the next day. She had dark circles under her both eyes. She went to her desk. And after clocking in, she immediately lay on the desk.

A colleague nearby said to her warmly,” Blake, did your date last night end very late? Your dark circles are so severe!”

“Yeah! What’s going on between you and that guy? I heard your boyfriend is really handsome, is that true?”

A few strands of hair hung in front of Blake’s forehead. She looked dazed, ” What? How did you guys know that I have a boyfriend? Who told you?”

The people sitting behind her all gathered around her, “You still don’t know about it, huh? Last night in the middle of the night, Susan sent a photo to the group chat. You were walking out of the building with a guy. The photo was a little blurry. But from behind, the guy seemed so handsome!”

“Yes! Blake, who’s more handsome, your boyfriend or Mr. Harrison?”

Blake glanced at the phone which was handed over to her, “What?! He’s the blind date my mom set me up with, not my boyfriend. Don’t spread rumors! But why am I not in this group chat?!”

After she said that, everyone’s expressions turned strange, and they walked away. Blake thought, ‘I’ll just let this matter go because I’ll be leaving this company soon anyway!

‘Wait, no! I have a boyfriend now! He’s right in front of me! What if a cunning woman tries to seduce him after I leave?!

‘Oh no, I shouldn’t have resigned!’

Blake started overthinking, and her hopeless facial expression seemed to scream “Life is meaningless”.

Janice Shaw was the person sitting beside Blake, and she wore glasses. She looked around to make sure no one was nearby before she whispered to Blake, ” After you tendered your resignation, Susan’s become the center of attention in the entire company, and everyone’s flattering her. All of us here except you have joined this group.

Blake, the salary you receive from the company is so high. Are you sure you want to leave?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
