Chapter 35 Lady No More
Zhong Zhen suddenly stopped at the door and turned back to ask, “Mr. Feng, how should I address her? Was she your date from last night?” Better be well prepared for the worst right?
“Yes, her name is Jiang Yingyou,” Feng Beichen replied coldly as he frowned. He was implying that Zhong Zhen was asking too much.
Looking at Feng Beichen’s expression, Zhong Zhen didn’t probe further and quickly left the office.
She was shocked after she heard Jiang Yingyou’s name. Not only was this woman from a well-off family, but she was also a mega celebrity herself.
No wonder Feng Beichen wants to meet her. Good thing I didn’t tagged along for the date. If not, I would have paled in comparison in front of the duo. As Zhong Zhen remembered her role as a mother, she only thought of doing her best for her son. She believed their days would get better in the future.
As Zhong Zhen stepped out of the elevator, an elegant woman was standing in front of her. She asked rudely, “Are you here to welcome me?” Her body language and tone were demeaning.
So this must be Jiang Yingyou. Zhong Zhen never thought that she would get a chance to meet her in person. Now as Jiang Yingyou stood before her, her diva presence could be felt strongly.
“Hello, Ms. Jiang. Mr. Feng asked me to lead you to him.” Zhong Zhen kept her tone as unassuming as she could. She reminded herself to just treat Jiang Yingyou as a VIP.
Jiang Yingyou smiled at her and replied, “Let’s go!”
She had personally come all the way here to meet him. What more could he ask for? She had given him and his family enough respect by coming here.
Zhong Zhen felt inferior as she followed behind her. Maybe they are meant to be?
No matter what, she must continue to be at her best during work.
Zhong Zhen wanted to bring Jiang Yingyou to the guest room but the latter insisted, “I’ll just go into his office.” She left Zhong Zhen standing there as she walked off toward the door to Feng Beichen’s office.
Zhong Zhen had no choice but to chase after her. The least she could do was to inform Feng Beichen of her arrival at once.
After Zhong Zhen knocked on the door, Jiang Yingyou went into the office quickly. She said, “Mr. Feng, I’m here to visit you since you’re such a busy person. Aunt Lu told me your favorite dish is prawn curry so I brought some for you.” She gestured at the lunchbox as she spoke.
Who would have thought that she would bring food here? Judging by how she addressed Feng Beichen’s mother, their relationship must be close.
Of course, with Jiang Yingyou’s background, nobody could compare to her. She could do anything she liked. With a wave of her hand, anything she asked for would be brought to her.
“Thank you for your hospitality. However, my girlfriend has already ordered lunch for me,” Feng Beichen replied coldly without any expression. He suddenly turned toward Zhong Zhen and reproached gently, “Zhen, don’t you know that guests should be brought to the guest room instead?”
Jiang Yingyou’s smiling face froze as he spoke. There was an awkward silence in the office.
Zhong Zhen panicked. It wasn’t her fault as she couldn’t stop Jiang Yingyou from barging in. Since Feng Beichen had brought it up directly, she quickly stopped Jiang Yingyou from getting closer and asked timidly, “Ms. Jiang, please follow me.”
What the hell was that? Since when do I ever get treated like this? Fine. If he wants to complicate things, then I’ll just have to show him who’s the boss.
Jiang Yingyou pushed Zhong Zhen aside and walked straight up to his desk. She put the lunchbox on the desk with a loud thud. With a sarcastic tone, she demanded, “Mr. Feng, do you mind repeating what you just said?”
Zhong Zhen was dumbfounded as she never thought a ladylike figure as Jiang Yingyou could have such an attitude.
She wondered what kind of woman Feng Beichen would be interested in. Xi Anan was obviously out of the picture. But surely, Ms. Jiang was a better match given her social status. Why was he being so mean to her?
“Wow, Ms. Jiang’s temperament is exactly as the rumors said. We’ve just met yesterday, so please be cautious of your words and actions. I wouldn’t want any unwanted rumors spreading, would you?” Feng Beichen replied teasingly. His anger from a moment ago had vanished.
What a weirdo! Nobody can understand his temper.
Jiang Yingyou stared at Feng Beichen coldly. She thought to herself that she had to find some ways to take revenge on his audacity.
“Who would’ve thought that Mr. Feng would be like this! Lying about having a girlfriend after hearing some gossip? Do you really have to go this far?” Jiang Yingyou asked angrily.
Even though yesterday’s date was pre-planned with ulterior motives, but they had known each other since young. Their families had wanted to pair them up officially.
However, Feng Beichen rejected this kind of arranged dates and marriages. When you really fall for someone, you will be head over heels with love. Not like this.
“It seems like Ms. Jiang is mistaken. Yesterday’s dinner was merely a task for me. This is my actual girlfriend!” Feng Beichen said nonchalantly while shutting down his laptop and pointed his finger at Zhong Zhen.
Zhong Zhen blinked in surprise. I must stay alert at all times. I never know what may happen the next minute.
Feng Beichen then winked at her. She knew she had to act fast, but her mind was blank.
What should I do in front of Jiang Yingyou? I received Feng Beichen’s signal, so I must act now.
“Her!” Jiang Yingyou glanced at Zhong Zhen doubtfully. She then asked in a mocking tone, “Mr. Feng, do you really think that I will believe that?”
