The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 997

Madelyn had not seen fireworks in a long time. She said, “Sure. Let me go to the restroom first.

After exiting the private room, she followed a waiter’s guidance to the restroom. In the relatively quiet corridor, she overheard voices from inside the restroom.

Two girls were touching up their makeup and fixing their hair in front of the mirror.

“What’s so great about her for Dorian and Clement to focus all their attention on her? We can do what she does!”

“Yes! I’ve had a two-million-dollar wine, too. She looked so arrogant, as if everyone was indebted to her. So she has a wealthy brother; what’s so impressive about that?”

“Her brother probably doesn’t even acknowledge her anymore. I bet she’s just pretending to be rich in front of us.’

“None of us are as pretentious as her. Who knows if that bottle of wine was even real!”

Madelyn turned around and walked away indifferently. She did not return to the room. Instead, she found a quiet place to sit.

A faint light illuminated the restaurant’s terrace. Here, the cold wind was bone-chilling. But this was the only way to help her calm down and not overthink.

Madelyn felt numb and felt no warmth when the wind blew at her. A waitress sneaked out from a corner. She quickly turned around and left when she saw Madelyn leave.

The two girls who had just come out of the restroom suddenly received an invitation, “Mr. Jardin would like the two of you to come over. He wants to ask you something.”

“Mr. Jardin? The CEO of Jardin Corporation?” They sounded excited.

“Yes.”

“Oh my goodness, it’s really him!”

After receiving the invitation, the two girls began to lose themselves in the moment excitedly. They carefully pushed open the private room’s door, “Mr. Jardin, why did you ask for us?”

Zach poured wine into the glasses, saying, “Come have a seat.”

The two girls’ hearts were pounding. Zach was a prominent figure that they could never meet on their own. They did not expect to be able to meet him today.

Both of them felt fortunate that they had touched up their makeup. Otherwise, they would not have had the confidence to appear in front of Zach. They appeared to be in their early twenties, similar in age to Madelyn.

Zach rolled up the sleeves of his black shirt, revealing his strong forearms. The ring on the ring finger of his hand holding the wine bottle was eye-catching. But instead, the two girls were captivated by Zach’s dangerous, unapproached aura. They each shyly sat beside Zach. They tried to be close to him.

“Mr. Jardin, did you call us to ask about Madelyn?”

Zach took a sip from his glass. The sound of the glass being put down sent a shiver down the girls’ spines, “Repeat what you two said just now.”

Those mere few words made their faces turn pale, “Mr. Jardin, we don’t understand what you mean…”

Zach stood up, “If you can’t remember, stay right here. Take your time recalling them.”

Soon, a group of bodyguards walked into the room. The two girls were frightened. They pleaded, “Mr. Jardin, we were wrong! Mr. Jardin…”

Zach stopped outside the door and listened to the pleading voices behind him. He just coldly responded, “My wife isn’t someone you can defame.

“Finish all the alcohol on the table. If you dare say a word to anyone, you’ll have to bear the consequences.”

The girls thought, ‘T-There’s much alcohol…’

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
