The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 987

The staff said, “Ms. Samford, this is the most expensive wedding dress we have in our store. Besides, this is the only design with meticulously hand-set crystals on the fabric. Many wealthy clients have tried it, but you’re the first one for whom it fits perfectly. If you’re not fond of this style, we’ll have a new batch in a few days. You may come back here to take another look, or we can provide dedicated in-home service for you.”

Cecilia casually pointed to a spot, “I think that one looks good.”

The staff looked over the direction Cecilia indicated and said hesitantly, ” Uh, this… I’m really sorry, Ms. Samford. The wedding dress in the other dressing room is… Um, Ms. Samford…” The staff noticed Cecilia had left during mid-sentence and quickly followed.

There was just a single door separating the two dressing rooms. Madelyn heard the door suddenly being pushed open. She looked up and saw Cecilia walking toward her in a wedding dress through the makeup mirror. In a moment of surprise and bewilderment, her mind flashed back to her previous life. Cecilia wore the same couture wedding dress and walked hand in hand with Zach into the wedding hall, a perfect match.

“Who are you? This isn’t a place you’re allowed to enter.”

Cecilia slapped the assistant makeup artist without any mercy. “Who the hell are you? How dare you stand in my way!

Then, she continued, “Ms. Jent, long time no see!”

Despite her greeting, Madelyn remained seated. The fingers crossed on her lap revealed a subtle hint of panic. All eyes were on Madelyn, but she remained indifferent. Cecilia’s commanding presence made it clear that no one dared to stop her.

She walked up behind Madelyn, smiling at Madelyn’s reflection in the mirror, “Ms. Jent is here to try on wedding dresses? However, why do these wedding dresses look somewhat familiar to me? Ah! I almost forgot these dresses were originally Zach’s…”

Cecilia paused a while, then put on a pretense and continued, “Why am I even telling you all this?”

Seeing Madelyn’s subtle gestures, Cecilia could already tell the nervousness in her heart and was completely dismissive of her attitude.’ Reborn or not, she’ll never be my match as long as she’s Madelyn. She lost to me once, and it’ll happen again and again. Even if she’s reborn a hundred times, she’ll never be my rival.

Madelyn was at a loss for words. Cecilia smiled slyly, her eyes flashing with sharpness. She leaned in and whispered, “Madelyn… these wedding dresses were personally designed and worn by me. I never expected you’d take something I no longer want! Why haven’t you learned your lesson? Remember how you became the loser in the previous life?”

Madelyn stood up abruptly. Cecilia straightened up soon, crossing her arms, and calmly looked at Madelyn, who was enraged at the slightest provocation. Her gaze was disdainful, contemptuous, and mocking!

“What’s wrong? Is this bridal shop out of staff? Why can’t you even stop a single person? Ms. Samford, I’m curious about the meaning behind your words. I can’t understand it. If you want to find Zach, he’s outside and can come in anytime. Why not repeat your words to him verbatim?”

Hearing Madelyn articulate so eloquently, a hint of hostility flashed in Cecilia’s eyes. However, she did not show it. ‘She’s using Zach to pressure me! In the past, she wouldn’t even breathe deeply around him. Everything she did had to consider my feelings. Even if she’s a wealthy daughter, so what? She’s worthless, a fool! Without me, Jardin Corporation wouldn’t be what it is today!”

Cecilia sneered, “Madelyn! What else can you do besides rely on Zach? Whether it’s in the past or now, you’re nothing at all once you leave Zach!”

Madelyn knew Cecilia was deliberately provoking her. Cecilia wanted to see her lose control, act like a lunatic, engage in a physical altercation, and ultimately embarrass herself. But now, she would not fall for it! She was just Cecilia, and only acted this was because Zach always protected her in the past.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
