The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 979 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 979

“You’re giving us everything? But what will you and uncle do?” Blake asked. She could not hide her concern.

Grace sighed heavily, her voice filled with resigned acceptance. “Your uncle and I knew this day might come. We have to ensure your and Mya’s safety first. With this money, you should manage just fine. We’ll manage somehow.”

Blake’s eyes began to fill with tears. She said, “There must be another way. We can ask Madelyn for help. She said the only person who can deal with Fred is Mr. Jardin, the CEO of Jardin Corporation. Mr. Jardin’s her brother, and he will surely help us.”

Grace shook her head, a mix of sadness and resolve in her eyes. She said, “Blake, we are outsiders in their world. Madelyn has already done more than enough for us. We can’t keep depending on her anymore.”

Mya carried a glass of water over clumsily and said, “Mom, here’s your water. I accidentally broke the glass just now, but I’ve already taken care of it.”

Grace gave Mya a final, longing look, her heart heavy with farewell, and said, “Mya, you’ve done well.”

“Blake, pack your things. Book a flight tonight and leave as soon as possible.” Grace instructed.

Blake agreed with a heavy heart and began to pack their belongings.

“Where are we going?” asked Mya, innocent and confused.

“You always wanted to visit your friend overseas, right? Blake found out where he was. You’ll see him soon,” Grace reassured Mya with a smile, but her eyes held a deep sorrow.

Mya’s eyes lit up with excitement and said, “Really? Then I’ll pack right now and take lots of yummy snacks!”

Grace watched Mya’s cheerful figure bound upstairs, her heart aching. She murmured, “That’s all I can do for you now, my dear Mya.”

That evening, Grace cooked a feast, a final loving gesture for Mya. After dinner, Grace lovingly adjusted Mya’s fluffy white cap, and Mya’s face broke into a carefree smile. Grace hugged Mya and said, “My dear Mya, take care of yourself no matter where you are.”

“Mom, I’ll be smart and take care of myself. Blake and I will be back in a few days.” Mya replied.

“Go now, or you’ll miss your flight,” Grace urged.

The driver put Blake and Mya’s baggage into the back of the car.

As the car carrying Blake and Mya drove away, Grace began to dismiss the household staff and, after dealing with some company affairs, she headed to the hospital in the middle of the night. However, her journey to the hospital was unexpectedly diverted when she realized the driver was not who she had expected.

“What’s going on? Where are you taking me?” she demanded, panic rising in her voice.

“It’s too late for realizations now, Mrs. Harper,” the driver said menacingly, his eyes glinting

with malice in the rearview mirror.

Trapped in the car, Grace’s heart sank as they drove further away from the city. The car headed toward a remote area, the dark night sky only illuminated by a dim moonlight.

“Ms. Samford, I’ve brought her here as you asked,” said the suspicious man.

At that moment, Grace was bound, with tape sealing her mouth.

In the dark, a woman’s face appeared especially sinister. She said, “You have yourself to blame for this. You should have chosen your alliances more wisely. Of all the people, you had to get involved with Madelyn. But even without Madelyn, your daughter ruined my plans, and for that, she can’t be with Fred. Because Fred, like Zach, is mine!”

In another lifetime, Fred had kidnapped and assaulted Cecilia. Although initially horrified, Cecilia grew to relish their illicit affair, even bearing his child, though fate had cruelly snatched it away.

Fred’s true identity was a secret to the outside world, but Cecilia was in the know. In Ventropolis, only Zach could stand equal to Fred in the world of power.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
