The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 978 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 978

Fred gave Blake a sharp, piercing gaze. He asked curtly, “How long until she gets better?”

Blake bit her lip, then replied, “The doctor said it’s a deep-rooted emotional issue from her childhood, worsened by the abuse she suffered. She has been traumatized. Recovery, if at all possible, will be slow. She’s been medicated for over a decade with little improvement. In addition to her being constantly bullied, how could she possibly get better anytime soon?” “There’s no disease that can’t be cured,” Fred declared sternly. “You have one day to pack up. Tomorrow, we’re heading back to Ventropolis. If you don’t comply, you’ll face the consequences.”

Fred’s glance briefly met Mya’s before shifting away coldly.

Blake exhaled deeply, feeling relieved at Fred’s departure.

In the car, Fred unbuttoned his sleeve to reveal a stark bite mark. Riley caught a glimpse of the injury in the rearview mirror, noting blood seeping through. Riley murmured, “I’ve never seen Mr. Turner being so tolerant toward any woman.”

If Mya had been a woman from an ordinary household, she definitely would not remain unharmed until now.

Fred covered the wound with his sleeve. He said coldly, “Eyes on the road.”

Unexpectedly, Blake returning to her hometown in Sutherlyn did not bring the peace she had hoped for. She had thought she could escape the troubles of the capital. Yet, to her surprise, she found herself having to return.

Blake quickly fetched a first aid kit for Grace. Meanwhile, Mya, holding her mother’s hand, tried to comfort her with childlike innocence, “Mom, don’t cry. I’ll make it better.”

Grace looked at Mya with tearful eyes, filled with sorrow and regret. Grace said, “Mya, I’m fine. You don’t need to worry.”

In Grace’s eyes, Mya was always a quiet and well-behaved girl, never troubling anyone from childhood. Mya was always the one being bullied, never the other way around. Yet, Mya had managed to draw the wrath of a formidable foe to her family’s doorstep.

Grace thought that leaving the capital would allow her family a peaceful life. Yet, Fred managed to find them in Sutherlyn.

“Mya, could you fetch me a glass of water?” Grace requested.

“Sure, Mom,” Mya replied.

Mya’s eyes were brimming with tears. She ran to the kitchen to fetch water for Grace, leaving Blake and Grace alone.

“Blake, take Mya and leave Sutherlyn,” Grace implored. “Go as far as you can, where he can’t find you.”

Blake protested, “Auntie, I can’t leave you and uncle behind!”

Grace said with her voice heavy with grief, “Listen to me, Blake. If your uncle were here, he’d say the same. Our biggest responsibility has always been Mya. If not for my negligence, she

wouldn’t be in this state.”

The fact that Mya had become mentally incapacitated was a lifelong sorrow for Grace, who felt she had not been a good parent.

Blake protested, “But… if we leave, he’ll definitely come and make trouble for you. What if… he does something horrible to you? Mya will be heartbroken.”

Grace was resolute. She said, “There are no buts. You have to do this. He might target the company, but your uncle and I don’t care. If the company is gone, so be it, but nothing can happen to Mya. Blake, I hope you can help Mya this time.”

Blake wanted to say more, but ultimately she acquiesced.

“Okay, I’ll do it,” Blake said. “But once I ensure Mya is safe, I’ll come back for you both.”

Grace shook her head and tears streaming down her face. “No, don’t come back until he gives up on Mya. Here, take this,” she said, handing Blake a card filled with their savings. “Never come back, no matter what happens to us. Keep Mya safe and away from him.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
