The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 947

Madelyn turned around and saw Clement walk in carrying food. After a while, Dorian came in with a dozen beers, “Madelyn, you’re finally back. How could I miss out on this?!”

Madelyn responded, “Don’t we still have to work overtime? Why are we drinking?”

Dorian glanced at Clement before saying, “Recently, Clem and I have been sleeping in the studio. Our client’s game is going to be launched by the end of the year. We’ve been putting in some extra effort for a while so that we can rest properly afterward. Also, we’re trying to make some money. Now that it’s vacation time, the prices are going up. If I don’t work hard to save up for a down payment on a property, I’ll have difficulty finding a wife.”

Madelyn had never had any financial concerns, Clement and Dorian had always envied her wealthy family background and that she could easily buy property in the city center of Ventropolis, something others might struggle to achieve in a lifetime.

They only saw the outwardly glamorous aspects of Madelyn’s life and were completely unaware of the extreme difficulties she was actually facing in her life.

Madelyn felt like she could only experience the life of ordinary people when she was with them. She envied that they had their goals, since Madelyn had been living her life aimlessly.

In the past, she wanted to travel the world. She had already done that. Now, she could not think of anything else to wish for. She was just living her life without any purpose now.

Madelyn was allergic to alcohol, so she did not drink. Clement and Dorian were slightly drunk. They went back to their respective offices for a short nap.

The night was still very long. Madelyn suddenly found the scarf she had left behind in the studio back then. She wrapped the red scarf around her neck and went downstairs to see the snow.

The studio was located in a tech park for startups. There was a green space designed for relaxation downstairs. Madelyn was wearing a beige knitted dress and a woolen coat. She sat on a wooden bench under the light, allowing the snow to fall around her.

Madelyn extended her hand to catch the big snowflake falling from the sky. A snowflake fell on her eyelashes at the same time. The snowflake quickly melted in her palm, She spoke out loud, “Ethan, it’s snowing…”

He was the only person whom Madelyn had fallen for, except for Zach.

With the experiences from what Zach had done to her in her past life, she had never cared about the existence of Donna, but she actually had some regrets regarding Donna.

She thought, ‘Why wasn’t he more firm back then? If only he had chosen me every time between me and Donna!’

In a nearby dark corner, there was a luxurious Rolls-Royce. The car window was partially opened. Zach’s gaze was deep as he watched Madelyn. In the quiet snowy night, her voice was neither light nor loud. He could hear her words clearly.

Kevin heard Madelyn too.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
