The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 941 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 941

“Zach, there’s not a single person in the world who doesn’t want power. Don’t forget who helped you earn back the money you donated to charity,” Cecilia reminded Zach.

Before Zach revealed that he had a fiancee, everyone assumed Cecilia would be his wife. Had the reporters not revealed pictures of Madelyn holding a child at the mall, Cecilia would have been a hot topic for the public.

Zach was oddly quiet and asked, “Are you sure about that?”

Cecilia replied, “Of course, whether it’s you from the previous life or the present, you’ve remained as ambitious as ever. You were able to get rid of Madelyn for profit the last time, and you will do the same in this life. However, this time, I might need to wait a little longer. But it’s okay; there is still time. Regardless, whether you marry Madelyn or not, it doesn’t affect me much.”

‘A useless woman is doomed to be abandoned by fate. Madelyn could not escape this destiny in both her

lifetimes,’ Cecilia thought.

At six in the morning, Madelyn tried to listen to the conversation coming from the master bedroom next door but could not make out what they were saying. Then, she heard footsteps. After everything quieted down, Madelyn fell back asleep. Fifteen minutes passed by, and the doorknob suddenly turned. She heard the sound of a key inserted into the keyhole, but the door would not open.

Madelyn opened her eyes as the noise woke her and Dalton up. She grunted before falling back asleep. The person behind the door was probably Zach. He tried to unlock the door using another key but failed to do so because another key was blocking the keyhole. In the end, Madelyn fell back asleep when the sound outside the door ceased. She slept until noon.

When Margaret entered, Madelyn was still in bed, wearing her pajamas. She saw Madelyn upset and pinching the bridge of her nose. Margaret asked Madelyn, “Oh my, Ms. Jent. Are you not feeling well?”

Every time Madelyn furrowed her brows or massaged her forehead, Margaret made a big fuss out of it. Madelyn shook her head and replied, “Nothing’s wrong. I just had a nightmare and did not have a good rest.”

Margaret answered, “It must’ve been Dalton; he likes to kick his blanket. I had to tuck him in several times throughout the night.”

Madelyn told her, “Take him downstairs to play first. I’ll rest for a while longer.”

Margaret hesitated before saying, “Mr. Jardin has a guest downstairs. They are waiting for you to have a meal with them downstairs.”

Madelyn closed her eyes and said weakly, “Tell him I’m not awake yet.”

She knew who was downstairs without even having to go down there. At this point, Madelyn did not think she could sit with Cecilia and have a meal calmly.

Margaret hesitantly said, “Ms. Jent, that woman doesn’t look friendly at all. If you don’t go down now, she might seduce Mr. Jardin.”

When Madelyn heard this, she thought it was hilarious. She told Margaret with a harsh tone, “Margaret, I don’t want to know anything about his affairs.”

When Zach approached the door, he heard the voices in the room and slowed down.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
