The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 938

Madelyn had all the servants clear the room, leaving only Margaret. Margaret brought a glass of water

and set it in front of Grace. Then, Madelyn asked gravely, “When did Mya disappear?”

Grace sobbed, “It’s been almost half a month. That night, Mya slept at home after she took her medication. But the next morning, she was gone! The maid found a note on the table saying Mya had been taken away. We already reported it to the police, and they said they’d do their best to find her. But until now… we still don’t know where Mya is.

“We paid to have people investigate, and they found out that the person who took her away is someone we can’t afford to provoke: a man from the Turner family named Fred. He’s a prison warden in Ventropolis Prison. Mya may be a bit simple-minded and easily bullied, but she has never gone out to provoke anyone.

“We have no idea how she could have crossed paths with him. Ms. Jent, I really have no other choice. If there were another way, I would not have come to trouble you. I’m begging you, Ms. Jent. Please save

Mya.

“If this drags on, I’m afraid she will be tortured to death by those people! She’s my only daughter!”

Madelyn handed Grace a tissue to wipe her tears and comforted her, “Mrs. Harper, leave it to me. I’ll find

Mya.”

Grace pleaded, “As long as you can help me find Mya, I will do anything you ask of me in return for saving

her life.”

Madelyn reassured, “I promise you, Mya is my friend. I won’t abandon her.”

After hearing Madelyn’s assurance, Grace felt more at ease and said, “Mya’s fortunate to have a friend

like you.”

Madelyn said, “Mya has saved me in the past. Now it’s my turn. It’s only right.”

After escorting Grace out, Margaret hesitantly spoke up, “Ms. Jent, are you sure about this? It could be a trap. And the person involved is.., I think we should let Mr. Jardin deal with it.”

When Grace mentioned the Turner family, Madelyn had already guessed that the person involved was Fred. But Madelyn could not understand why Fred would take Mya away, especially by breaking into the Harper family’s villa so recklessly. It was no wonder Fred could partner up with Zach.

Madelyn clenched her fist and rubbed her forehead, feeling a headache coming on. She thought, ‘No one

could rescue Mya from Fred’s hands except Zach.’

Seeing Madelyn distressed, Margaret quickly asked, “Ms. Jent, are you not feeling well?”

1/2

Madelyn resisted the headache and stood up from the couch. She said, “I’m fine. I’ll be in my room.”

Back at Jardin Corporation, Zach removed his Bluetooth earpiece as he watched the video feed of Madelyn holding the railing and ascending the stairs step by step.

Kevin realized that Zach had left the “fool” at Floral Loft for a reason. Fortunately, she was behaving by spending her days eating or sleeping.

The video feed abruptly ended. Zach fiddled with his phone, waiting for something.

Madelyn was unsure whether the sound of the door opening woke Dalton up. He was awake when she entered the room. Upon seeing Madelyn, Dalton immediately scrambled up, his hands grasping the bed’s side rails unsteadily as he stood up. He was reaching out for a hug with his cooing.

Madelyn reached out to pick him up. Then, she checked his diaper before setting him down on the playing mat to play with him for a while. Dalton contentedly leaned against her chest, nibbling on her clothes, leaving a wet patch on her chest.

Madelyn seemed distracted, gazing out the window. After peeking inside, Margaret left without disturbing Madelyn and closed the door gently behind her.

Eventually, Madelyn retrieved her usual phone and sent a message to a familiar number.

[Do you know Fred?]

A response came within seconds of sending the message: [What Fred? Who are you? Why are you messaging my boyfriend?]

Then, the person called. Madelyn confirmed it was Kennedy’s number.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
