The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 937

Margaret clumsily hit the record button and sent the video of Madelyn eating the chicken potato soup to Zach.

“My goodness, Ms. Jent. You look so beautiful on camera,” Margaret exclaimed, obviously pleased with her filming skills.

“That’s enough. I’ve finished the soup. If you need money because things are tight at home, I’m willing to cooperate with you on one condition: you must never betray me,” Madelyn sternly instructed Margaret.

Margaret happily picked up the bowl, made a sweeping gesture with her hand, and said, “Don’t worry, Ms. Jent. I will take care of it. I’m definitely on your side.

“I’m just focused on Mr. Jardin’s money,” Margaret admitted candidly.

Madelyn knew Zach could easily bribe Margaret. She concluded that if Margaret were to side with Zach, she would not have anyone she could trust in the long run.

“Okay. You can go now,” Madelyn said, eager for some peace and quiet.

“Yes, Ms. Jent,” Margaret nodded before leaving the room.

Meanwhile, Zach received a notification on his phone during a meeting at Jardin Corporation. He saw it

was a video from Margaret.

The Business Development Department manager was giving a presentation in front of the large screen and glanced at Zach. Many in the room relaxed after they saw Zach’s unusually pleasant expression. Even more surprising, they thought they might be seeing things when they caught Zach smiling at his phone in

broad daylight.

Zach tapped his phone to open the interface for adding new contacts and saw that the friend request he

sent was still pending approval.

Madelyn left that pink phone in the bedside table’s drawer where she could not hear it vibrate. It then lit up again with a notification for a friend request.

After the meeting, Zach picked up his phone and stared intently at the screen before opening the newly developed chat application. The company’s senior executives and Kevin, who had not yet dispersed, all turned to look at the trembling Software Development Department at the side.

“Why isn’t there a response?” Zach murmured. His words caused everyone’s heart to skip a beat.

The lead technician stepped forward and said, “Mr. Jardin, the software is still in its testing phase. We

Zach, known for his decisiveness in business, seemed a little lost navigating the intricacies of the software. The lead technician noticed the name “Wife” saved as the contact name.

“The contact will need to approve your friend request before you can chat with her,” the lead technician informed Zach, whose frown deepened at the explanation.

The lead technician immediately added, “We can also add someone’s contact information through another method…”

Before the lead technician could finish speaking, the elevator arrived. As the doors opened, Zach twirled his phone before slipping it into his pocket. He commanded, “Come to my office in ten minutes.”

“Yes, Mr. Jardin.” the lead technician responded.

Not one of the dozen or so senior executives dared to ride the same elevator as Zach. Only after he had gone up did they take the elevator back to their respective departments.

Zach’s previous attempt to connect with Madelyn involved installing a global positioning system on her phone. After the Information Technology Department’s intervention, Zach bypassed the need for her approval and added her contact himself.

“Mr. Jardin, we’ve added the contact. You can now message your wife. She will surely respond once she sees the messages now,” the lead technician assured Zach, unaware of the complexity of Zach’s and Madelyn’s relationship.

Zach’s gaze lingered on the empty chat window. He asked, “What do you think she’s doing right now?”

“Ms. Jent should be in her studio at this hour. If you miss her, you could call her Mr. Jardin.” Kevin suggested, noticing the somber tone in Zach’s voice.

Zach hesitated at the thought of calling Madelyn, knowing the likely cold response from her. He kept his phone and instead inquired about the latest developments regarding the Harper family.

Kevin updated Zach on the situation, “Considering the time since Ms. Harper disappeared, it’s been almost half a month. If all goes as expected, the Harper family will soon approach Ms. Jent.”

Zach knew that as the new year approached, it would signify a fresh start for him. It would be the time he

intended for Madelyn to willingly become his wife.

Back at the Southern Haven Villas, Madelyn had just completed a painting commission to be delivered to her mentor’s studio. As she prepared to rest, a strange black car pulled up. It was driven by the Harper

family’s chauffeur, whom she recognized from Mya’s visits.

As the car stopped, a woman stepped out and was halted by the security guard. The woman shouted, Ms. Jent, I’m Mya’s mother. There’s something I’d like to speak with you about!”

Madelyn gestured to the bodyguards to let Grace in. Madelyn saw the fatigue in Grace’s face and recognized the family resemblance with Mya. It was their first meeting, and Madelyn already instinctively respected her.

“Mrs. Harper…” Madelyn began when Grace suddenly clutched at her hands and fell to her knees.

“Please… save Mya!” Grace begged, her voice filled with desperation.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
