The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 834

A reporter asked, “Ms. Smith, the international news reported that Ms. Jent’s artwork was just awarded the gold prize in Libertyville. What are your thoughts? Do you think your art could surpass hers?” a reporter asked.

Ignoring the question, Serena donned her sunglasses and walked away, flanked by her

bodyguards. She snapped, “Make sure those reporters who just asked those questions won’t show their faces around me again.”

“Yes, Ms. Smith.”

‘Madelyn Jent? The Jent family was nothing now. How is she an heiress? She only depended on that freeloading Zach of hers!’ Serena thought to herself. She found herself feeling superior, almost triumphant, thinking about the Jent family’s downfall.

“Make sure this afternoon’s papers please me. I don’t want to see that wretched name in them, “Serena warned.

“As you wish, Ms. Smith.”

When Serena returned home, her mother, Zoe Parker, looked at her transformed face with dismay because it reminded her of someone from the past. While sitting on the couch, Zoe voiced her displeasure, “Who are you trying to impress with that face? I’m warning you for the last time, change it back. Your father’s career is on the rise, and we can’t afford any scandals.”

“What’s wrong with it? You used to say I was too ugly to be seen in public. I’ve made changes, and still, you’re not satisfied. What’s it going to take?” Serena retorted.

Zoe rose from the sofa, a shawl draped over her shoulders. “You never excelled in school; we had to use our influence to send you overseas. You wouldn’t study finance like we wanted, choosing art instead. And your award? It’s all thanks to our connections. If that gets out, you’ll tarnish our reputation.”

“Yeah, I’m the failure, right? The constant disappointment. If I’m such an embarrassment, why don’t you just disown me? Dad has other kids,” Serena said with scorn, her words striking a nerve with Zoe.

Chadwick Smith entered amid the commotion. “What’s all the shouting about?” He just got back from a meeting, visibly irritated. Handing off his briefcase to the maid, he then faced his daughter, who looked different.

Although Chadwick was unhappy inside, he managed to hold it back. He asked, “I hear you’re looking to become a student of Leonardo Monet. So you’re serious about painting?”

“Absolutely, Dad. I want to prove that my choices were right,” Serena responded.

“How are you going to convince him to take you under his wing? He’s had many students, but I’ve heard he rarely accepts a protégé,” Chadwick asked.

“With talent, of course! Don’t you believe in me, Dad?”

“If you manage to become his student, I’ll buy you the car you want as a gift.”

“Really? Don’t worry, Dad! I can do it! After all, I am your daughter. If he doesn’t respect me,

he’ll respect you.”

With her father’s influence as the Secretary of Education, Serena was optimistic that Leonardo Monet would agree to mentor her. She went to her room to gaze at her own paintings, each a testament to her readiness for the upcoming show.

On the wall hung a torn landscape painting. Its original beauty was marred by several knife slashes. Fuming, Serena tore off a piece. She murmured bitterly, “Madelyn Jent… your pride irks me. You might be more beautiful, but you’ve lost it all. I want you to watch as I claim what was once yours. If you can win prizes, I can too.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
