The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 833 by Max Charming

The stark truth hit Zach hard, demanding he face it despite its severity.

“I don’t care what it takes, I want you to cure her,” Zach demanded, his voice tinged with desperation.

“It’s not that simple. She’s resisting the treatment, refusing to wake up. At this rate, even a miracle wouldn’t be enough to save her,” Kai responded, weary resignation filling his eyes.

“Fine. If the medical treatments here can’t help, then I’ll take her abroad. Surely someone out there can do something,” Zach shot back, stubborn hope clouding his judgment.

Kai had to admit that Zach seemed to have lost his grip on reality. “Perhaps there’s one last resort,” Kai mused cautiously.

Avoiding any disclosure of Madelyn’s true background and the mysterious Hawk family, Kai sought the advice of Agustin.

He began, his voice laden with urgency, “Agustin, that’s how it stands. If you could perhaps share something about Alicia Wood, it might jolt her awake.”

Still recovering from surgery, Agustin sat in his hospital ward. Sorrow clouded his features after hearing everything from Kai. Agustin said, “You’ve been reckless, Kai. You’ve drugged Madelyn without grasping the whole picture. How am I supposed to face Ms. Wood now, knowing this?”

Kai felt a weight of guilt press upon him as he fell to his knees in front of Agustin. “It’s all my fault. I failed Madelyn. I beg you, Agustin, please help her.”

Sorrowful yet resolute, Agustin finally turned away, gazing out the window. “Fine, if doing so might awaken her, then I’ll give it a try. My score with Hayson is settled and I have no more regrets.”

Kai accompanied Agustin and walked into Madelyn’s ward. Kai motioned for Zach to stay back and mouthed silently, “Let him try.”

“Anyone can enter, but not you,” Agustin said curtly, his face stern. “Every offspring of Hayson is good for nothing.”

With those cutting words, Agustin closed the door behind him, leaving Zach standing there, his eyes darkening ominously.

“He’d better not disappoint me,” Zach muttered, narrowing his eyes at Kai, who quickly nodded in agreement.

Right now, nothing was more important than Madelyn waking up. As for Agustin’s identity, Zach did not delve too much into it.

Meanwhile, Serena returned home but did not do as Zach had asked. Instead, she boldly announced her artwork to the media, even planning an exhibition at the largest center in the capital.

When reporters asked, “Ms. Smith, we heard that Prof. Monet will also be attending your exhibition. Is that true?”

Smiling for the cameras, Serena confidently responded, “Absolutely!”

Another reporter chimed in, “One more thing, we’ve heard from sources that your name used to be Serena, but now you’re Madelyn Smith. What’s the story behind the name change? Could you share?”

“Did you go abroad for plastic surgery? You look strikingly similar to Madelyn Jent. Even your name is the same now! Both of you were also in the same class in high school; are you still in contact with her?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
