The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 820

Lana was startled when she heard Kai talking in his sleep. She saw him stretch his hand as if to grab something. Lana stood at the side quietly as she watched him. She had never seen him in such a vulnerable state before. Her eyes were filled with an indiscernible emotion.

It seemed like Lana had an inner conflict. She could not help but clench her fists on both sides of her body. In the end, she heartlessly prepared to leave.

Just as she turned around, Lana’s thin wrist was suddenly grabbed by a strong force. With a pull, she fell into Kai’s embrace.

When he felt the weight on his body, he opened his eyes and saw the panicked Lana. He quickly hid the coldness in his eyes and playfully raised his almond- shaped eyes, “What were you trying to do while I was asleep?”

“Don’t talk nonsense. I didn’t do anything. Let go of me.” Lana tried to get up from him. But her waist was then grabbed by his hand. She could not move.

“You threw yourself into my arms, and you want to run away now? Huh?” Kai extended his hand under her shirt. Lana hissed in pain.

“What’s wrong?” Kai sensed something was not right when he saw her frown.

Kai lifted her shirt. But Lana was afraid of letting him know about something, so she quickly pulled her shirt down. She then freed herself from his grasp and stood up immediately, “I’ve placed the food you asked for on the table. If there’s nothing important, don’t contact me again.”

Kai took a few steps forward to block her way. He then pressed her against the wall, “Let me take a look before you go.”

Lana responded, “Don’t touch me! Let me go!”

Kai then made her lean against the office door with his hand, “Just for a moment.”

Lana said, “I’m begging you. Please don’t do this.”

“Did he hurt you?” Kai saw the area around her waist that seemed to have been scalded by boiling water. There was also a bruise. Lana forcefully pushed him away, ” That’s enough!

“You’ve already achieved your goal of sleeping with me, haven’t you? Stop meddling in my affairs. It’s none of your business.”

Kai took a deep breath. He looked somewhat troubled, “Your wound needs treatment.” He then raised his eyes and saw the panic and unease in hers.

The next moment, Kai bent down and carried her horizontally into the resting room inside his office. He then put her down on the bed in a sitting position.

She wanted to escape, but Kai held her down, “Your wound has already been infected. Once I’m done applying the medication to your wound, I’ll let you go.

Upon hearing that, Lana indeed became quiet. She knew that unless she followed his instructions, he would not allow her to leave. Kai grabbed a spare medical kit from the cabinet and took out the burn ointment. He said, “Lie down.”

Lana did not move. Kai said, “If you want him to recover as soon as possible, you better listen to me. “So, his operation…” Lana’s eyes seemed to light up as she grabbed his hand.

“Bring him here to the hospital tomorrow,” Kai replied with his head low. He was carefully applying ointment to her wound, “Does it hurt?”

Lana did not even hear what he said clearly. She just said, “What do I need to prepare when I bring Andrew here tomorrow?”

Kai responded, “His medical records. The hospital needs to analyze his medical records to plan his treatment. But I can’t guarantee that he’ll recover completely.”

“Is there anything else?” Lana noted the key points he mentioned.

“And…” Kai gently applied the muscle rub to her bruise, “Stop accommodating him. Stay away if he hits you. You don’t owe him anything anymore…

“Andrew isn’t as great as you think.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
