The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 819 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 819

Kevin did not know what to say. He thought, ‘We’ve chosen this path, and there’s no turning back.”

The determination Zach once had to hurt Madelyn was now replaced by deep remorse for everything he had done…

As the sky darkened, the grand church hall remained pristine and well-lit. The fire of burning candles inside the hall swayed due to the wind. The gloomy weather outside hinted at an impending storm.

Zach was sitting on the pew with his body straight, head bowed, and eyes closed in prayer.

After Kevin finished his last phone call, he walked into the hall, “Mr. Jardin, the hospital just called. Ms. Jent’s surgery will be completed soon. We should go back now.”

Zach opened his eyes. His strong gaze was less fierce than before, with an addition of calmness, “What time is it now?”

Kevin responded, “It’s already eight in the evening. Once we arrive at the hospital, her surgery should be close to completion.”

Zach and Kevin then walked out of the hall. There were two people that walked out from behind the church. It was an abbot and a staff member. The staff member asked, “Is this the person who donated money to our church?

“If he’s so rich, why does he still have worries?”

The abbot answered, “Everyone in the world has their worries, no matter who.

“Got it.”

The road downhill was rough. It filled with potholes, causing the car to jolt. In the heavy rain, the car sped along the elevated road.

When they arrived at the hospital, the scent of the church candles still lingered on Zach. When he arrived at the ward, he saw Kai, who looked weary, standing near the observation window. When Kai saw Zach, he stopped him and said, “The surgery went well. Now, we’ll just have to see if she can wake up.”

Zach responded, “That’s good.”

“What’s that smell on you?” Kai squinted as he sized Zach up. He was puzzled, “Did you visit Mistral Monastery?”

Kai thought, ‘He even did that. This means that everything I suspected has all come true…”

Kai wanted to say something to Zach. But when he was about to say it, he just said, “The surgery is done. You should rest properly for some time. Don’t wait for her to wake up, or you’ll wear yourself out before that happens.”

Even if Kai continued to advise Zach, it would just be of no use. Zach was staring unwaveringly at Madelyn, who was in the intensive care unit.

The surgery lasted over six hours. Kai went back to his office and lay on his couch. He then covered his eyes with his hand.

“I heard the surgery went well.”

A voice came from behind the bookshelf. Agustin was holding two books in his hands. Kai listlessly responded, “I don’t know. I’m sorry, Agustin… I’ve really done my best.”

“Since it’s already over, don’t think too much. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen her. I was afraid the child would ask about her mother. If you’re tired, just sleep.”

Agustin thought, “I’ve watched Kai grow up. His facial features resemble those of his willful mother.’

He then grabbed a blanket to cover Kai before he left…

Lana was holding a thermal food container. When she saw Agustin coming out of the office, she could not help but glance away nervously and lean against the wall as she walked into the office. Inside the food container was the takeout she bought from The Deli.

Kai had just fallen into a deep sleep with his eyes closed. Lana was about to wake him up but decided against it. She planned to leave the thermal food container and leave…

Suddenly, there was a panicked voice, ” No… Don’t…”

A nightmare that had troubled him for over twenty years haunted him again. There was a sound of intense gunfire and a raging fire.

“Go with me, don’t abandon me…”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
