The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 806

It seemed like the questions in his heart had started to find their answers…

Madelyn’s eyes were already dry. She paid no attention to the child that Margaret had brought to her. She did not even spare a glance at them. Then, she headed straight upstairs.

Recalling everything that had happened made her feel like her heart was stabbed a million times. Zach had hurt her in two lifetimes. Madelyn just could not picture herself being together with him ever again.

After entering her room, Madelyn sat at the edge of the bed, ran her fingers through her hair, and burst out crying.

She did not expect Zach to feel guilty after listening to what she told him. She only hoped that he would understand what she felt and let her go.

As she calmed herself down, she remembered the note that Mya had given to her earlier. Zach was in the car earlier, so she did not have the chance to read it. She unfolded the crumpled note and saw the three words on the wrinkled paper, “Check your email.”

Madelyn was puzzled. Then, she picked up her phone from the nightstand and accessed her email. She then found several unread emails from Kennedy in her overseas email account.

[Watch out for Zach Jardin!]

That was one of the emails that Kennedy had sent her.

[Zach had set up surveillance software on your phone, and he can monitor every message you send. If you see my messages, don’t reply to them immediately.]

[The emails you send with your current account will be automatically forwarded to another account with a different IP address.]

[Ethan is in trouble. Frida arranged for a private plane to take him to Avalon for treatment. However, the plane exploded mid-air. She was also on board. Zach had suppressed the media from reporting about it.]

Madelyn scrolled and read through the emails.

[Madelyn… something happened to the Arnold family. Mrs. Arnold Sr. has passed away, and Zach has taken possession of the Arnold residence. I don’t know what’s going on with you now. If you’re in danger, please call me right away.]

Madelyn’s face turned paler with each email she read, and her hands could not stop trembling.

‘T-This is impossible! He’s lying to me! ‘It’s impossible that Ethan has died! This has got to be fake.’ Madelyn thought to herself.

Her mind immediately went blank. Then, she saw the photos of the wreckage of the plane. The photos showed the date and time of when it was taken, which was not long ago.

Zach came back home very late that night. Madelyn figured that he did not go anywhere else. Instead, he went to the Arnold residence. Madelyn finally knew why there was a strange smell on him that night.

It was the smell of dead people.

Although the heater was switched on in the room, Madelyn could feel a rush of cold air emanating from the floor, sending a chill down her spine.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
