The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 762

Thinking about it, Madelyn suddenly lost her appetite. At that moment, Zach came down from upstairs. After clarifying matters with Kevin, he walked over to sit beside Madelyn. Seeing the uneaten bowl of oatmeal with fruits, he asked, “What’s wrong? Is it not to your liking?” ॥

“Why… don’t you legally adopt this child yourself? Why do you place the responsibility on me?” Madelyn asked. Zach narrowed his eyes, “Is there a difference? Regardless of who legally adopts him, he’s our child!”

“That’s not how it works at all!’ Madelyn thought.

“There is a difference. He…” Suddenly, Madelyn stopped mid-sentence and looked away. She stood up, handed the child to Margaret, and said, “Nothing, forget it! You promised to take me to visit my father. I’ll go upstairs to  change.”

“Stop!”

However, Madelyn did not stop her steps. Zach followed her upstairs, and the argument continued even to the middle of the stairs.

Margaret held the child and left discreetly. It was not anything unusual for these two to quarrel.

“Yes, that’s what I thought. People are fickle, always seeking the new and discarding the old. Everyone is like that! Jasmine, Yvonne, Cecilia… Zach, do you think you have a shortage of women? There are many people out there willing to raise your child for you. Why do you have to force this child on me?

“You’ve never even asked if I’m willing, and now you’ve unilaterally made me legally adopt this child. What would happen if you kicked me out one day?

I’ll still have to take the child with me. How can I get married and have a life of my own?” Madelyn shook off his hand, went upstairs, and firmly closed her bedroom door.

‘Kick her out? Get married?’ Since Zach had brought Madelyn back, he had never entertained the idea of letting her leave his side, not even for a moment! Not to mention the absurd notion of her marrying someone else!

The mere thought of her being with another man, even in a romantic sense, ignited a fiery rage deep within him. He forcefully banished the mental image, ‘ You won’t be able to escape from me in this lifetime. If a wedding is the best way to secure and keep you by my side, even if I… I can still marry you.’

After changing into fresh clothes, Madelyn headed to the hospital. Jasmine had been spending most of her time at the hospital taking care of Hayson recently. However, his condition was worse than Madelyn had anticipated.

Hayson had lost nearly half his body weight in just a few days. He lay in the hospital bed, seemingly conscious yet completely immobile. He looked alive and lifeless at the same time, devoid of any perceptible awareness. His hair had turned significantly whiter.

In the office, Kai smiled as he watched the monitor, “Just a few more days and everything will come to a perfect end. Hayson, I’ll make sure you live in agony while being fully aware of your helplessness.”

Suddenly, a nurse knocked on the office door urgently. Kai turned off the monitor and said, “Come in,”

The nurse said, “Dr. Stewart, the gentleman you brought in, Mr. Bond, has collapsed due to a heart attack.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
