The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 761 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 761

Madelyn could not escape Zach’s clutches that night. Under the veil of night, a lamp cast its light inside the room. If one were to look in the window, one would see two figures engaged in an intimate embrace. The heavy breathing of a man and woman faintly echoed in the hallway.

Scattered all over the soft carpet were pieces of the torn, thin chiffon nightgown. Madelyn had slipped from the floor-to-ceiling window, bearing the marks of a rather intense encounter. An empty, expensive bottle of wine lay on the floor. A drop of red liquid was at the bottle’s opening, radiating a sparkling hue. The scent of alcohol and debauchery filled the room.

It was not until the first light of dawn appeared on the horizon that Madelyn finally managed to sleep soundly. When she woke up, it was already three in the afternoon. Someone had tidied up the

originally messy room at some point and had changed her into a fresh set of pajamas. When she reached down between her legs, she felt nothing but soreness to the point she could not lift her hand. Zach had been like a man possessed last night.

Madelyn had a splitting headache. She reached into the first drawer of her bedside table, took out a white pill bottle, and swallowed a few pills. She then washed them down with water from a nearby glass. After she was done, she sat on the edge of the bed with her eyes closed for a while.

Before Madelyn could react, Zach walked in from outside with a child in his arms. As Madelyn lifted the covers, she watched him place the child on the bed forcefully. She said, “You can’t carry him like that, Zach. He’s still a child.”

Dalton grinned, revealing two tiny baby teeth, and crawled to Madelyn. She quickly picked him up.

Zach removed his dark-colored pajamas, revealing his muscular and powerful upper body, brimming with male hormones. He was one of those men who looked thin when dressed but had a well-built body underneath. His figure was not inferior to those of international male models. He casually tossed his clothes on the floor, removed his pants, and walked into the bathroom in the nude.

Madelyn had never seen his face look so grim and unpleasant. She looked at the child in her arms and suddenly understood what had happened. Most likely, Dalton had urinated on Zach when he was holding him.

Madelyn could not help but take a little pleasure in this. A faint smile appeared as she lightly tapped his nose, “Good job, Dal.”

Dalton seemed to understand and made an ‘Ah’ sound to Madelyn. His saliva dribbled from the corners of his mouth as he smiled. Madelyn noticed a gold necklace around his neck. She picked it up to check the back and found his name, ‘Dalton Jardin.’

Madelyn got up, freshened up, and carried Dalton downstairs. On the table, she saw several items laid out. Kevin instructed the bodyguards to take these things upstairs.

Madelyn did not look at him and went straight to the kitchen. Margaret served her a bowl of oatmeal with fruits and informed her that Zach had taken Dalton out in the morning to amend his birth certificate. Madelyn found her identity card and some documents on the table. She immediately picked them up and checked. As she suspected, she was Dalton’s adoptive mother.

Madelyn pursed her lips, her face showing little emotion. Margaret noticed and assumed that she was unhappy. It was impossible for Madelyn to be happy in this situation. If this child truly belonged to her, in that case, she would have an obligation to take responsibility for him, care for him, and raise him to adulthood. However, she had very little time remaining.

Madelyn had thought that Zach was simply making a casual remark. She was still having the police investigate. Dalton’s background now and hoped he could return to his biological parents one day.

‘What if Dal had been abducted and abandoned? How worried must his biological parents be?’

Madelyn knew how painful it was to lose a child.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
