The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 715

After Kai left, everything he said echoed in her mind. Madelyn looked at Ethan as she walked over to sit by his bedside, “Ethan, is all of this my fault? Would you not end up like this if I hadn’t left?”

Madelyn thought, ‘I realized everyone around me seemed to have been negatively affected by me.’ She stayed with him for a while and said many things to him.

When she wanted to moisten his lips with a cotton swab, she felt the hand she was holding moved slightly. She could not believe it. She spilled the water she was holding but ignored it dripping from her body. She looked nervous and surprised when she looked at him carefully. She lifted his hand to interlock his fingers with hers, “Ethan, I know you heard everything I said, right?

“I knew it. The Ethan I know must be trying very hard to stay alive. Please wake up soon, okay?”

Suddenly, she saw Ethan’s finger move noticeably with her own eyes. She said excitedly, “Open your eyes and look at me. I know you’ve been waiting for me to come back. Now… I’m back.”

The heart monitor began to show significant fluctuations. His heart rate started to increase rapidly, too. Madelyn held her breath, waiting for him to wake up.

Ethan’s brain slowly awakened. His vision was blurry, and he saw multiple layers of a person. When Madelyn’s look slowly formed, he saw her face clearly. After a short period of mind blankness, he started to recall memories…

“M-Madelyn?” He weakly called her name. He could feel a warm teardrop on the back of his hand. Madelyn responded, ” I’m here… Wait for a moment. I’ll go call the doctor for you now.”

Madelyn was trembling as she stood up. She walked unsteadily, “Doctor… he’s awake…”

In just half a minute, a large group of doctors quickly arrived. Madelyn waited at the side for the examination results.

A doctor said, “Currently, the patient is considered stable. You can get some bland soup for him. Let him have it as much as he can.”

Madelyn responded, “Okay, I’ll go and buy it now.”

She went downstairs and bought a bowl of vegetable soup. When she returned to the ward, Ethan was already sitting up in bed. He immediately looked at her.

The nurse beside him was setting up an intravenous drip for him. Madelyn walked slowly toward him and sat beside him. In the next moment, he immediately went forward to hug her.

The nurse hurriedly pulled the IV tube. Ethan’s breathing was rapid and weak. Madelyn could hear his heartbeat through his hospital gown. His voice was hoarse as he said in her ear, “I thought I’d never see you again.”

“Ethan! My son!”

“Ethan.”

Frida and Yvonne’s voices could suddenly be heard. Madelyn gently pushed him away before standing up, but Ethan grabbed her hand. When he saw Frida and Yvonne, he turned cold and said, “What are you two doing here? Get out!”

A hint of sadness flashed in Frida’s eyes. Yvonne quickly said, “Ethan, Mom has been caring for you when you were unconscious. How can you speak to her like this?”

Frida responded, “Shut up! You go out now.”

“Mom!” Yvonne frustratedly said.

Frida replied, “I told you to leave.”

Yvonne then left in dissatisfaction without responding. Frida walked forward, “Ethan, it’s okay if you don’t forgive me after all these years. I’m very happy as long as you’re alive.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
