The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 713 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 713

After Zach left the hospital and the baby was asleep, Madelyn finally had time to visit Ethan upstairs. Yvonne had replaced the security guards arranged by Zach with the ones she hired. So, Madelyn could now enter and leave the ward freely.

As soon as she entered, she saw a doctor performing a checkup on Ethan. A nurse said, “Dr. Stewart, the patient’s condition has improved. His heart is gradually returning to normal. Should we reduce the medication for him now?

Kai kept the pen he was holding in his chest pocket, “No, we should observe for a few more days for any definite improvement before considering any changes in treatment.”

The nurse responded, “Understood.”

Madelyn thought, ‘He’s Ethan’s attending physician?’ For her, Kai was never a good person. She continued pondering, ‘Doesn’t the Young family know that he and Zach are in cahoots?’

Kai saw Madelyn outside the door through the glass. He lowered his head and said, “Feel free to come in, Madelyn!”

Madelyn was surprised. She wondered when he noticed her. She then slowly walked in. Kai asked the nurses to leave and said, ” Close the door. Madelyn asked, “What are you planning to do?”

Kai smiled at her, “Are you afraid I’ll do something to you?”

He pulled a chair and sat down. He crossed his legs and placed the examination form on his knee, “Don’t be nervous. I just want to sit down and have a chat with you. I thought you’d be curious about what I have to tell you tomorrow.”

Madelyn walked toward him without letting her guard down, “So, what do you want to tell me?”Kai responded, “I’m not going to tell you now.”

Madelyn was speechless. Kai suddenly burst into laughter when he saw her puzzled expression, “You really do look like her with your current expression. If you weren’t Hayson’s daughter, I’d have forgotten…”

Madelyn responded, “Are you having fun messing with me? Kai, you’re insane, just like him.”

Kai shook his index finger, saying, ” Some things must be spoken at the right time. Saying them now would be less enjoyable. But I can tell you something that you don’t know. I don’t want to see you live like a fool.”

Madelyn replied, “You can just say what you want to say. There’s no need to insult me.”

Kai’s smile held deep meaning, as if he were playing with her, “Madelyn, aren’t you curious why Donna appeared when you were about to marry Ethan four years ago?”

Madelyn furrowed her pretty brows. Her heart skipped a beat, “W-What are you saying?”

Kai responded, “Four years ago, Donna sold her life to Zach just to return to Ethan. Can you guess what Zach wanted?”

Madelyn was stunned and did not respond. Kai raised his eyebrow and said, “Have you figured it out? You’re only half right if you guessed that Zach only wanted you.

“Guess again. Is Zach keeping Ethan and Donna’s child?”

Madelyn did not understand what he was getting at. She was increasingly confused, “What does that have to do with me?”

Kai chuckled in his deep voice, “You’re really foolish.” He stood up and walked over to Madelyn, “Isn’t his goal obvious? He’s after the Arnold family!”

Madelyn was frightened for a moment. Kai continued, “Initially, I thought he did it just for you too.

“But later, when I pondered about it, I wondered why Zach, an ambitious man, would do all those meaningless actions. Not until you left did I realize this was his well-orchestrated plan.

And even you’re just one of the tools he used in his plan.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
