Madelyn had no idea what Zach was doing in the silent living room. ‘Is it because he cares about what I just said? Is it repentance? Or regret for everything he had done to me?’
Madelyn knew Zach well; he was never a kind person. He was decisive and ruthless, never regretting his decisions. Zach used Forrest to gain control of the Arnold Corporation. When Forrest was desperate and used her life as a threat, he did not care at all. In the end, Forrest chose to jump off the building. He inexplicably apologized to Madelyn before pushing her away and committing suicide.
Madelyn cowered in fear on the ground. As her husband, he could have helped her stand up with a simple step forward, but he did not. His indifferent gaze even met hers before he left with Cecilia. Zach closed his eyes as if in a dream. There was an inexplicable emotion welling up in his heart. He wanted to maintain this scene and see what would happen with her and his child.

A great restlessness consumed him. Zach had grown up in a world of coldness and survival of the fittest. The darkness and shadowy paths were like the filthy, lightless sewers. He had never allowed himself to have complicated emotions.
