The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 695 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 695

After Zach and Yvonne got married, Zach continued staying at Floral Loft. However, he did not require Madelyn to follow him to the office. She had already become the talk of the company when she appeared that day.

Since Yvonne was now the rightful wife of Jardin Corporation’s CEO, he knew what the people would say if Madelyn showed up again.

In the next few days, the entire Ventropolis buzzed with excitement. The news of the marriage alliance between the Jardin Corporation and YTCorp was all over the place, The wedding ceremony was set to be held at the most upscale hotel in Ventropolis.

For the next few days leading up to the wedding ceremony, the hotel was closed for business and dedicated themselves entirely to decorating the wedding venue.

Meanwhile, Madelyn was under the guard of Yvonne’s bodyguards. Madelyn did not go to the hospital again today and went to Mistral Monastery instead. Apart from days with bad weather, Madelyn hiked up to the monastery every single day. She was doing this for Ethan.

Last night, Zach did not return to the Floral Loft, so Madelyn set out really early. By the time she reached the top, it was already completely bright out.

There were few visitors at the monastery today, and Madelyn was the first to arrive. The door of the hall was opened, and a staff donned in a gray robe appeared.

“Peace be upon you, Ms. Jent.”

Since Madelyn came every day, many staff in the monastery already knew her. Just like before, Madelyn sat at the pew and remained there for a few hours.

Madelyn did not get what she prayed for the second time she came. And the same thing happened on her third, fourth, fifth…

Every time she came, she would pray for Ethan to regain consciousness and recover soon. ‘As long as he’s comatose, I’ll come every day and only stop when he regains consciousness,’ she thought.

However, Ethan’s condition worsened as the days passed. His kidney and the rest of his organs were deteriorating. The doctor had already given them the notice that there was no need for him to undergo treatment if he did not regain consciousness in the next five days.

The abbot walked over and said, “Ms. Jent, you should accept fate and let go. Peace be with you.”

“In the past, I’ve never believed in fate. But now, I do. I’m willing to have faith in him,” Madelyn said weakly. She went on, “If God is real, why doesn’t He take care of good people? Why do bad guys get away with stuff?”

“Ms. Jent, what goes around comes around,” came the reply.

“Really? Where? In my last life, Cecilia destroyed my family. She stole my husband, killed my kid, and took everything I had. I died alone, sick. I thought coming back would let me fix things, but nothing’s changed. Why does she get a do-over? Can you help me? I’ll trade my life for his. I’ll give up everything if it means he’ll be okay.”

Madelyn felt like she had nothing left to lose. ‘Ethan’s been so good to me,” she thought. The abbot shook his head, then reached for a book, handing it to her in silence. Madelyn accepted the book and prepared to depart.

The abbot placed a metal container, usually housing a deck of cards, on a nearby table. His unexpected offer, “I used to do card readings before joining the monastery. Would you like to pick a card for a reading?” caught Madelyn off guard.

She hadn’t expected an abbot to carry a deck of cards or to have expertise in card reading.

After a brief pause, she politely declined, saying, “No, thank you.” In her thoughts, she said to herself, ‘No point in getting a reading. It always predicts misfortune.’

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
