The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 678

“You go on. I’ll wait outside. People are going to laugh at me if they see a man like me going into a lingerie store. I think it’s better for me to stay here. Take this card and spend however much you want. Then, show me everything you bought tonight.” The man then gave the woman a peck after saying that.

The woman took the card and chuckled shyly. “Hey, we’re in public. Behave yourself.”

The man patted the woman’s butt before she went inside. Then, he saw Madelyn, who was sitting outside just like him. His eyes instantly lit up.

However, before he could take another step closer to Madelyn, Zach’s bodyguards stopped him. “Get lost if you want to live.”

“God, what the fuck are you being so aggressive for?”

The man sat back down as he continued to stare at Madelyn, “Hey, hottie! Why are your bodyguards so aggressive?”

Madelyn ignored the man who sounded exactly like a playboy from a wealthy family. “Don’t talk much, huh? Cool. What’s your number? Wanna have some fun with me tonight?

“I’ll introduce some handsome guys to you.”

Madelyn was speechless. At that time, the woman who had just entered the store not long ago came running out in tears. She was limping and there was a visible bruise on her face.

“Babe, what happened to your face?”

“The man inside did this to me. He harassed me and even tried to touch me. I stopped him and he hit me! Boo- hoo… you’ve got to teach him a lesson for me!”

“Who is that son of a bitch who dared to touch my woman?”

“It’s him!” The woman pointed at Zach, who was walking out of the store with a bag in his hand.

The once arrogant man immediately panicked upon seeing Zach. Without any hesitation, he slapped the woman on her face, “Are you an idiot? That’s Mr. Jardin, the CEO of the Jardin Corporation.”

The woman held her cheek as her gaze widened, and immediately stopped crying.

“M-Mr. Jardin, I don’t know what this bitch did to offend you, but if you’re still upset, you can slap her too. Oh, how could I let you lay your hand on such a filthy woman? Let me help you with that,” the playboy said, desperate to suck up to Zach.

Madelyn watched the man slapping his partner again, but Zach did not even spare them a glance. Instead, he walked straight toward Madelyn and handed his bodyguard the bag.

Madelyn stood up, not wanting to hold his hand anymore, and walked ahead of Zach. After they got downstairs, Madelyn asked, “What did you do to her? Why did you hit her so hard?”

“She fell on her own.”

‘Why would there be a shoe print on her face if she fell on her own?’ Madelyn thought to herself. Madelyn could still hear the man cursing at the woman and her crying from downstairs…

However, she was already aware of how fragile the relationship between wealthy people could be.

Then, Zach brought her to the skincare and cosmetics section. He examined the ingredients of everything he bought, from foundation, eyeliner, lipstick, lotion, and face cream.

A man would be most irresistible when he stayed as attentive and gentle even after gaining wealth and power. Everything that Zach had bought was for her. In her previous life when she still loved him, she would be delighted if he took the time to go shopping with her.

But Madelyn enjoyed doing a lot of things at home instead, including cooking. To her, that was what a home should be like.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
