The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 676

Zach arrived at exactly twelve o’clock. The maids prepared the food on time too. Zach would usually eat in the company cafeteria, so Madelyn knew exactly why he had come all the way here today.

Zach took out his suit and sent all the maids away upon entering the villa, leaving Madelyn alone inside. The maids had prepared plenty of dishes.

Zach noticed the teacups on the table, which the maids had forgotten to clear. Then, his gaze grew hostile. “Someone came here today.”

Madelyn sat at the dining table and answered truthfully after eating a few bites of the food. “It was Yvonne. There was something I wanted to ask her about.”

Then, Zach saw the nail marks on her arm. “What was it? Why didn’t you just ask me instead?

“Does it hurt?”

“I’m fine. Let’s eat,” Madelyn said. Zach put a piece of chicken on her plate, and the way they interacted with each other looked exactly like a married couple. “It’s been three days. I need an answer.”

“I can stay, but you can’t touch me,” Madelyn replied. Zach reacted as if he just heard a joke. ” Do you know what’s the most attractive part of you?

“…It’s your body, Maddie! There’s nothing more tempting than that.”

Suddenly, Madelyn lost her appetite and found the food unappetizing, You have a wife, and what you’re doing is unfair to her.” She took out the invitation card Yvonne gave her earlier as she spoke. “She wanted me to attend your wedding, and I agreed.

“If you consider me as your little sister, then please stop doing things that would hurt her. Yvonne will become my sister-in-law soon.”

“Do you want me to marry her?” Zach asked.

“Would you even listen to me if I said no?”

“Why not?”

“Zach Jardin, how could you take marriage so lightly? Yvonne has sacrificed so much time on you, and this is how you treat her? She’s a human being too. What you’re doing is not right at all!”

Zach held her face, seemingly unconcerned at all as he said, “I don’t care about all that. Maddie, you know me. No one can ever force me to do something I don’t want to do. It’s just a ceremony, nothing to be concerned about.”

“Zach, you’re heartless. You’re going to spend the rest of your life by yourself.” Madelyn got so angry that she slammed her fork on the table.

To Madelyn, Zach’s action was no different from what an animal would do. She stood up, not wanting to look at him anymore. Zach grabbed her wrist, and with a pull, Madelyn fell onto his lap. “Let go of me! Madelyn yelled.

Zach held her wrist with one hand and touched the scratched marks with the other. “I bought a house around my company. It’s a lot nearer than here and will make things easier for us. I’ll bring you there tonight.”

Zach did not tell her that he had bought it five years ago, and nearly spent all of his savings. He had not been earning a lot back then and had barely managed to gather enough money for the downpayment of a unit in the city center.

“We’ll go buy furniture after eating.”

“No!” Madelyn resisted.

“I won’t take no for an answer.”

“Zach, have you thought about how others will see me? You’re already engaged to Yvonne and you’re even going to marry her soon. Even without Yvonne, you should know that nothing you do can make up for everything you’ve done. I’ll never be with you again.

“I’d rather you be the old Zach who used to be ruthless toward, rather than the way you are now! What you’re doing is wrong!”

“Then tell me, what is right and what is wrong?” Zach asked.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
