The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 674

“Would you guys give us some space? I have something to discuss with her.” Yvonne said. “Sure, Ms. Young.” After the maid left, Yvonne and Madelyn were the only ones left in the spacious villa.

“I’m getting married to him next month, on the 20th of September. That would be Yvonne’s birthday.

“Congratulations!”

Yvonne took out an invitation card and placed it in front of Madelyn. “We’ll be family from now on. I hope that you can forgive me for what happened in the past and I would love to see you there that day.”

Madelyn looked at the invitation card and was slightly taken aback. Then, she said nonchalantly, “I’ve already forgotten what happened after so many years. Congratulations, I’m glad that you get to marry the person you love.”

“Besides all this, what I’m about to say may sound a little selfish, but I have to say it anyway…

“I know you and him are not biologically related, but… I’m not a fool. When I saw you again in France, I knew that Zach had done something to you without even having to guess!”

As Madelyn thought about what happened, she clenched her fists tight, gripping on her dress. Not only that she felt ashamed, but she also hated herself for turning into someone that she vowed would not become.

“Madelyn, I hope that you can leave Ventropolis after Zach and I get married. I’ve been loving him with all my heart for the past seven years. I can’t live without him. If he doesn’t show up at our wedding, I’ll go insane.

“I know you left Zach back then because of Donna and you’re not the kind of person who would destroy other people’s relationships. I know that you have no choice. However… your existence is making me feel scared and insecure. I even spend every day doubting and overthinking things.

“I really want to mend our relationship and treat you as family.”

As Yvonne spoke, Madelyn looked at her. Suddenly, she saw Yvonne’s face turning into hers, struggling hysterically. As if she was looking at a mirror, into her past life.

With another blink, Yvonne’s face then transformed into the face of Cecilia. A lot of things flashed across Madelyn’s mind as she closed her eyes, trying to dispel these illusions.

“Zach cares too much about you. Even after all these years, his office desk and wallet are still filled with your pictures. You weren’t even here, yet I could feel your presence everywhere.

“If you agree to leave, I’ll pay you five million. If that’s not enough, there are properties abroad that my family owns, and they’ll be yours too…

“Zach is all I want. Can you not take him away from me, please?” Madelyn stared at her with a melancholic expression. She remembered this was exactly how she had begged Cecilia.

She wondered what Cecilia had felt at that time. Was it happiness, triumph, contempt, or disdain? However, Madelyn felt none of that. Instead, she felt pity not only for Yvonne but for herself too.

She lowered her gaze to the carpet under the coffee table and spoke softly, “I’ve never wanted to interfere with your marriage. My family is still in Ventropolis, so I’m sorry. I can’t agree to leave.”

Yvonne grasped her hair and was on the brink of collapsing, “He’ll never pay any attention to me as long as you’re around. Madelyn Jent, I’m begging you. Please leave Ventropolis.”

Madelyn replied, “Have you considered that even without be other women?” me, there’ll always Yvonne suddenly stood up and yelled, ” It’s not going to happen! All he wants is you!

I’d rather him mess around with other women or cheat on me behind my back than see him always thinking of you.”

Yvonne clutched her chest in agony and muttered, “Did you know that in these four years… he’s never even touched me?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
