The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 673

Madelyn brushed off the dust from her body and comforted her, “Let me see your hand. Does it hurt?”

“Not at all.” Madelyn pinched her cheek and said with a smile, “You’re such a good girl. Where’s your mother? Why are you here alone?”

The little girl giggled. “She went to the restroom, but she realized there was no toilet paper inside, so I came to bring her some.

Madelyn’s voice sounded very warm and kind. Also, it was evident that the little girl liked her very much too. “I see. It’s dangerous for a little child like you to be here alone. Let’s wait for your mom inside, okay?”

“Oh, sure thing.”

Madelyn thought of her baby girl who had left this world before being born.” If she were still alive, would she be as cute as this little girl, calling me Mom?’ she wondered.

What happened to her baby was going to haunt her for the rest of her life. But… she would never have another baby again.

After some time, Zach came outside. Madelyn stood up and met his gaze before getting into his car. Kevin came over with the leftovers and placed them into the trunk.

Both of them kept quiet during the ride and what happened to their baby was a pain that they could never overcome.

Zach had done a lot of wicked things in his life. If anyone ever found out about his heinous actions, he would almost certainly receive a death sentence. However, he regretted none of them.

If there was one thing he regretted, it would be what he had done to Madelyn Jent. Time changed, and so did everything else, including the feelings Zach had for Madelyn.

He had simply overestimated himself and his own capabilities. Perhaps something could be mended, but…

There was also something that he could never fix. Finally, they arrived at the Southern Haven Villas. The car journey lasted for more than an hour, but none of them had said a word.

Madelyn got out of the car without looking back. Zach watched her slender figure as she walked toward the villa. He only told Kevin to drive away when she completely disappeared from his sight.

Zach did not appear in front of Madelyn for the next two days. Finally, Madelyn got to spend two days without any disturbance. However, an unexpected guest then disrupted her peace.

Madelyn stood on the third floor and saw Yvonne on the road while holding her phone. She stood beside her red Ferrari that was parked in front of her door. “I have something to talk to you about, but I’m not coming in. Could you meet me downstairs?”

“Let’s just talk on the phone,” Madelyn said. “Madelyn, I want to speak to you in person. I won’t leave until you come down.”

Yvonne ended the call after saying that. She had dared to disobey the warnings Zach had given her, so that was the only thing she could do. There were bodyguards standing at the door, but Madelyn went downstairs anyway and let Yvonne enter the villa.

They sat on the sofa, and there was an indescribable look on the maid’s face. The maid was about to address Yvonne as “Mrs. Jardin” but managed to correct herself in time. “Ms. Young, please have some tea.”

She could not imagine what would happen if she were to address Yvonne as Mrs. Jardin in front of Madelyn.

The maid thought the confrontation between the two women would be chaotic, but they just seemed like two old friends chatting peacefully after not seeing each other for many years.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
