The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 646

“She can’t do it, and you think you can? A cold voice came from behind the crowd, and everyone turned to see a man walking toward them. He was the guy from the art show with his assistant.

This man was good-looking and tall, giving off a classy vibe. You could tell he was a big-shot CEO with one look. Someone in the group felt like they had seen him before but couldn’t remember where.

The person who spoke earlier quickly lowered their head, too scared to talk again. The people around Madelyn made way for him. Madelyn had no clue that Zach would show up. He stood next to her, his gaze sending shivers through everyone.

He said, “Aren’t you usually all confident around me? Why the quiet act now?” Madelyn gripped her dress, looking down, and muttered, “I didn’t ask for your help.”

Zach responded, “You heartless girl. We’ll talk about this later.”

Jane kept her professional tone, saying, “Sir, this is our studio’s private matter. If you want to get involved, please go back and handle it. Don’t disrupt our work.”

Zach called out, “Kevin.”

“Yes.” Kelvin responded and stepped forward. He said, “Encounter Gaming is the subsidiary of Jardin Corporation. Jardin Corporation will thoroughly investigate the plagiarism incident.

“As for the matter of dismissing Ms. Jent, Ms. Smith, may I ask under what authority you’re making this decision?”

Kevin’s words silenced everyone. Madelyn was taken aback as well.’ Jardin Corporation owns Encounter Gaming?’

She had always thought that Kennedy founded Encounter Gaming. Few people knew about the relationship between Leonardo and Kennedy, and Leonardo rarely took on external projects.

Jane could not provide an answer for Kevin, but she stayed composed as she replied, “Sir, let me be clear. Prof. Monet entrusted this studio to me, so I must bear the responsibility. If there’s an issue, I have to address it. We’re all regular folks trying to make a living and support our families. Not everyone has the same background and status as she does. If we all accommodate her, it would only hinder our progress and hold us back.”

“I agree with what Jane said,” one of the girls nervously raised her hand.

“Yes! I agree too.”

“We’re on Jane’s side!”

“Jane is spot on. She’s doing what’s best for us. Even if you’re the boss of the company that owns Encounter Gaming, you can’t just use your power to push us around.

“We’re regular folks here. We’ve been putting in overtime every day to get the job done, and it’s been exhausting. If I had a family like Madelyn’s, I wouldn’t be working.

“Plus… it’s true that she held us back…

“The girl’s voice trailed off as she spoke, and when she noticed Zach’s gaze on her, she got so scared that she hid behind Jane.

With the support of several people, Jane straightened her back. She bore the pressure and stood in front of everyone. Now, Madelyn suddenly had to bear the brunt of everyone’s criticism.

Zach sat in Madelyn’s seat. He crossed his legs and flipped through the discarded sketches he had picked up from the trash can, “Even if she takes advantage of my power and acts recklessly, I’ll cover for her.

“If she likes Encounter Gaming, it can be her playground too. She has this privilege. What about all of you?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
