The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 638

Madelyn felt her back go numb and could barely hold on. When they reached the 85th floor, the door suddenly opened. “Sir, Miss, you can take the elevator.”

Madelyn’s face turned bright red, not expecting someone to appear. Zach, seeing her flushed face, said with a playful tone, “She prefers it this way.”

The person who had opened the door was oblivious to the situation beneath Madelyn’s dress.

“So, still resisting?” Zach said, giving her a playful shake. Madelyn yelped in surprise and leaned into him, feeling uneasy. Zach’s manhood was bulging, he was at his limits.

Suddenly, Madelyn had an idea and decided to change her approach. She leaned fully against his shoulder, a move that seemed to please him. It was uncommon for her to initiate such closeness. She let go with her legs that were tightly wrapped around his waist. What began as an embrace transitioned to him hoisting her over his shoulder.

“You’re smarter now.” Zach patted her hip. Seizing her chance, Madelyn quickly got away from him and dashed off. Zach took a moment to tidy himself with a handkerchief, adjusted his attire, and discarded it in a trash can nearby. He then made his way upstairs, one hand casually in his pocket.

Madelyn frantically searched for the keycard, then it hit her – she didn’t have it. As Zach approached her, she looked away in annoyance and busied herself with straightening her clothes.

The door beside her opened unexpectedly, revealing Kevin and Cecilia. They seemed engrossed in a private conversation.

“Mr. Jardin,” Kevin acknowledged.

Zach replied nonchalantly, “Hmm.” Cecilia shot a cold glare at Madelyn, who acted as if she hadn’t seen. The hostile stare unsettled Madelyn, but deep down, she felt a hint of satisfaction. In her past life, when she was still Zach’s wife, Cecilia would openly flirt with him in her presence, making her feel invisible. Now the tables had turned. Even if she no longer cared for Zach, she wanted Cecilia to feel the sting of losing someone dear.

Kevin quietly made his way to his room, wanting no part in the impending drama. After he left, Cecilia’s attention shifted back to Zach.

“Zach, can we talk? In private.”

Zach took out the keycard from his pocket, and Madelyn snatched it. She unlocked the door, trying to shut it behind her. But Zach blocked it with his foot. “Why so hasty? Go freshen up. I’ll join you later.”

Madelyn retorted, “Don’t bother.”

“Oh?” Zach looked at her sharply.

She feigned surrender. “Fine, whatever. Only then did Zach retract his foot and turn to Cecilia’s room. As the door closed, Madelyn had never hoped so strongly that Cecilia would keep Zach in her room tonight. She turned around and propped everything movable against the door. She wouldn’t let him in even if he tried to use a saw.

Thinking about what had just happened in the emergency stairwell, Madelyn felt the need to cleanse herself. She removed her dress and headed to the bathroom to wash up multiple times.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
