The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 631

“Ma’am, are you feeling unwell?”

Madelyn dug her fingernails into her palm. “Get out!” she said.

“Your face…”

“I said, get out!”

After the meeting, Zach did not go straight to the hotel. Instead, he went for dinner at a restaurant with Cecilia. Based on the calendar, Valentine’s Day was every fourteenth of the month.

An attendant brought over a stalk of red rose and placed it in front of the two. Zach took a sip of wine and said, “You went to see her at the hospital today?”

Cecilia sliced into her steak, tasting a piece, Glancing at Zach, she said, “Are you worried about what I might’ve done to her?” She smirked. “You know me. I only react when provoked. She crossed a line, so I set her straight. She’ll be okay. Just soothe her for a bit.” Zach’s gaze turned icy. “You hit her?”

“Mhm,” Cecilia did not deny it. She continued, “Part of it’s personal. In another life, she tore us apart. What I did? That’s going easy on her.”

Zach signaled the violinist to stop playing. He tipped the violinist and put his wallet back into his pocket.

“I’ve made my rules clear. Didn’t I tell you to stay away from her for now? Did you think I was joking?”

Cecilia laughed, “Zach, we’re on the same side. At the end of the day, Madelyn’s merely an outsider.”

“But that isn’t enough of a reason for you to lay your hands on her,” Zach said as he wiped his mouth with a napkin. He stood up and continued, ” This is your final warning. Next time, I’ll get even with you on her behalf.”

Seeing him leaving, she stood up with her hands on the table, “I gave you everything you have right now… Stand right there!”

Zach left without looking back.. Meanwhile, Cecilia continued screaming behind him, breaking the initial silence in the restaurant. In the end, Cecilia lost it and flipped the table in front of her. The two stalks of roses lay among the shattered ceramic pieces.

Zach returned to the hospital at eight- thirty. When he arrived, Madelyn had just finished her checkup. She coldly glanced at the person at the door and continued speaking to the doctor.

After the doctor left, the room quickly fell into silence.

“Someone gave you a hard time?” he asked as he sat down. He reached out to touch the slap mark on her cheek and felt his heart clench.

‘It’s worse than I had imagined,’ he thought.

Madelyn slapped away his hand. She said with a gaze that was as icy as ever, “That slap was nothing compared to the ones I’ve experienced in the past. If you’re here to apologize on her behalf, there’s no need for you to put on an act. She and you are the same kind of people.”

She continued, “If I had known I’d be given a hard time here, I would’ve stayed by Ethan’s side. He would never let me get hurt.”

Madelyn knew she was saying all of this out of anger.

Zach’s gaze turned dark. “What do you want then?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
