The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 595

Madelyn’s shoes were gone, her feet were cut by sharp stones, but she didn’t feel it. All she wanted was to get away from him.

She found herself on a peak of a mountain in a scenic park near Southern Haven Villas. The area was surrounded by mountains, with nothing but trees and a wild grassy field around, and a wide road that rarely saw any vehicles.

At the end of the peak was a cliff, with no protective railing. Zach’s car was parked right on the edge, where the most beautiful sunrise could be seen.

The morning light shone on Madelyn, but she didn’t feel its warmth. Instead, she felt cold and numb all over, and the blood beneath her feet was shockingly vibrant against the pale stones.

“Madelyn, you’ve got to face it now. Now you can be with your beloved brother forever,” said Zach. Madelyn realized she was now on the same path as Zach, a path with no way back.

“No! It’s wrong! Everything is wrong! It’s all messed up!”

She held her head, looking like she’d fall. Turning, her eyes puffy and red, she faced him. “It wasn’t supposed to be this way,” she whispered. “You have so many girls around you. I didn’t want to be just another girl for you to use as a pawn in your revenge. I really liked you before, but you didn’t care. Why now? I don’t feel that way anymore. I just want a normal life. Why are you doing this?”

Zach was taken aback by her words. He looked serious. “Who told you?” He was sure no one else knew his secret plans. ‘Did someone spill the beans?’

Madelyn didn’t answer. She suddenly felt light-headed. Then, everything went dark, and she passed out. After some time, Madelyn woke up groggily a few times. Each time, she saw a shadowy figure next to her.

It was Zach, answering calls on her phone. He had tampered with it so that he could pick up any incoming calls. He picked up a call from someone at the airport.

Madelyn had booked a flight to Paris. Looking at Madelyn, who seemed really sick in bed, Zach found an excuse to cancel her flight.

The family doctor looked at Madelyn and explained, “She had an operation not too long ago and she’s still healing. She’s tired, and the cold weather made it worse. She’s got a fever now, but I’ve given her some medicine. A good rest tonight should help her.”

Zach nodded, “Thanks.”

“Just doing my job.”

Once the doctor was gone, Rosario came in with some medicine. She glanced at Madelyn, her face filled with worry. “Mr. Jardin, maybe you should rest. I can watch over Madelyn. I’ll stay out of sight when she wakes up.”

“No need,” Zach said, waving her off.” I got this. Just whip up some cream soup for her later.”

“Sure thing.”

Madelyn’s was weak. Just one cold night and she caught a cold. Zach sat by the bed, gently holding up the weak Madelyn. He gently pinched her cheeks and opened her mouth. He tried to give her a pill with some water, but she spat it out.

Her pajamas got wet on her chest, so Zach patiently took a few tissues to wipe off the water. After another try, she finally took the pill.

“Don’t… don’t hurt my baby…”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
