The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 589

‘He’s always around so many women, who knows how many he’s been fooling around before me.’ She thought Zach was disgusting, yet she couldn’t help feeling the same about herself. How she wished their paths had never crossed.

From downstairs, Jasmine’s voice drifted up as she ascended the stairs.” Zach, did you make Madelyn upset again?” When she reached the door, she didn’t seem shocked when she saw what was happening in the room. Instead, she just smiled at Zach, “Why do you always get her worked up? Talk to me instead.”

It was clear from how Jasmine looked at Zach that they had something special. “Leave! This is MY room. Talk somewhere else,” Madelyn said, putting down the craft knife in her hand. There was a small cut on her neck that was bleeding a little.

Madelyn didn’t conceal the contempt in her eyes for them. To her, the relationships in this house were all tangled up and messed up. It felt as if the house were a decaying swamp, and everyone was trapped, unable to break free.

“Madelyn, don’t play with that knife. You could get hurt.” Jasmine’s words only made Madelyn more annoyed.

“If you won’t go, then I will. This room’s all yours.” Madelyn just wanted to be far away from them. Madelyn quickly stepped away as Zach tried to grab her. But she swung the knife up in defense, and Zach ended up with a cut on his hand.

She took a deep breath, trying not to show her fear. Her eyes seemed to say,” Try that again, and see what happens.”

Zach stared back, his eyes full of anger and something darker. Suddenly, he slapped Jasmine, making her fall. “You…”

“Have the servants been treating you too well lately? You’ve become so careless with your words,” Zach said angrily, putting his foot on Jasmine’s ankle.

With a defiant tone, Jasmine spoke up, I don’t like how you treat Madelyn. And the nicer you are to her, the more I want to show her who you really are. As long as I’m here, she’ll always wonder if the baby is yours. She’ll keep trying to get away from you.”

Jasmine tried to stand, but the more she moved, the harder Zach pressed on her ankle.

Despite the pain, she provoked him, “It must hurt to be wounded by someone you care about, Zach Jardin! If she ever learns that you ordered Rosalia to poison Hayson the same way you guys poison her, don’t you think she’ll hate you enough to kill you?”

The wound on the back of Zach’s hand wasn’t deep, but it was bleeding. Madelyn had definitely not held back. If Zach hadn’t moved quickly, the cut might have been bone-deep.

That night, the bodyguards were called off, and Madelyn had already escaped to the neighboring mansion, the place Ethan had previously stayed, for some rest.

In his room, with only a bedside lamp on, Zach was wrapping the wound with gauze. Suddenly, he saw a light turn on in the mansion next door. He noticed a figure inside, moving around with a blanket. Within minutes, the light went out.

Zach lowered his eyes, lost in deep thought. While some find peace in sleep, others lay restless throughout the night.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
