The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 588

Madelyn attempted to pull her hand from Zach’s grip, but he held firm. Turning to him, her eyes displayed a hint of emotion. Her brows knitted slightly, her voice barely more than a whisper, “What do you want?”

“We have servants here. You don’t need to take care of things.”

“Servants who are loyal to you. You probably have a better idea than I do about what happened to my father. After all that’s happened, do you genuinely believe I’d trust you?” Her eyes held a challenge, but then she looked away, “No matter what happens with my father, I’ll do what’s expected of me. In the end, you’ll have control of our family’s wealth, and no one will stand in your way.”

Madelyn tried to pull away, but just as she stepped into Hayson’s room, Zach swiftly drew her back to him. All the things Madelyn held dropped to the floor. He carried her up the stairs.

His movements were decisive, almost predatory. “You seem to know so much, so why fight it?” he taunted.

When he set her down, she was backed against the wall, blocked by him. The intensity in his eyes was overwhelming, drawing ever closer until every detail of his face filled her vision. He leaned in, his strong aura surrounding her. She felt like she was caught in a big, hot fire, burning from its intensity.

Just as she felt Zach was about to kiss her, Madelyn turned her head away. Don’t make me hate you. What would people in Ventropolis say about a brother forcing himself on his own sister? Don’t forget, I am Ethan Arnold’s fiancee!”

Zach smirked, amusement dancing in his eyes. “Trying to intimidate me now? Madelyn felt an uneasy pressure in the room. Being near Zach always put her on edge, making her voice quiver, ” You’ve left me no choice.”

His fingers gently tilted her chin, a playful smile gracing his features, but the coldness behind it sent shivers down her spine. “You’ve yet to figure me out.”

In a sudden twist of aggression, he held her face firmly, his gaze frigid and threatening. “I’ve never been one to weigh consequences when I truly want something.”

Without warning, he pressed his lips onto hers. She resisted, and summoning all her might, she stepped hard on his foot, managing to push him back.

Seeing an opportunity, Madelyn reached for a crafting knife on the desk, pointing it in his direction, “One more step and I won’t hesitate.”

Amused, Zach approached her slowly, Can you even handle that knife? If you injure yourself, I’d be rather upset.”

To him, her threats felt empty, as if he was convinced she wouldn’t dare act. As Zach closed the distance between them, panic clouded Madelyn’s eyes. In a sudden move, she pressed the craft knife to her own neck.

As expected, Zach halted his step with a frown. Trapped and scared, Madelyn found courage in her voice, “…I’m not like you, able to hurt people without caring. Listen, even if you have power over the Jent family, I’ve never been scared of you.”

She went on, “Even if today is my end, you better not lay a finger on me again. You and Jasmine are plotting together, aren’t you? She’s even having your baby. You’re perfect for each other. I try to stay far away from you every day, hoping something takes you away from me. Just seeing you makes my skin crawl!”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
