The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 548

“I…” Madelyn hesitated, feeling torn. Anything involving the Young family was a sensitive topic Ethan couldn’t handle easily.

“Madelyn, don’t you want my mother and Ethan to make up? Considering our relationship, you should start calling her Mom too. Aren’t we all family? So… right now, the only person who can talk to Ethan about this is you. You have to help us. Both my mother and I won’t forget your kindness,” Yvonne urged.

Madelyn stayed quiet for a while before slowly responding, “Yvonne, this isn’t as simple as it sounds. I’ll talk to Ethan later, but I can’t promise he’ll agree.”

“Madelyn Jent! Do you have to be like this? Do you even know how much my mother wishes to fix things with Ethan? Don’t you want to help us at all?

Yvonne tried to contain her frustration. Madelyn furrowed her beautiful brows.

“Yvonne, you have no idea what happened between them in the past. If she wants to bless us, we’ll appreciate her goodwill.”

“What’s going on? Whose phone call is it?” Ethan’s gentle voice came from behind. Madelyn placed the recently disconnected phone aside, debating whether or not to tell Ethan about it. Ultimately, she decided against it. Bringing up the Young family at this moment would only make him sad.

She shook her head and said, “It was Mya. She’s regretting not being able to make it to my engagement and was crying when she called.”

Ethan smiled, pulling her into his arms as he looked up at the bright moon in the sky. The weather was perfect that night, with a full moon and sparkling stars. In Ventropolis, it was rare to see such a clear night sky.

He said, “Madelyn, I’m so happy. You still belong to me, and from now on… I won’t ever let you go.”

Madelyn responded to his embrace, leaning against his chest and inhaling the scent of alcohol, not particularly pleasant but not entirely unpleasant. She replied softly, “Mmm.”

She hoped that from this point on, life would be free from Zach, Jadie, Jasmine, and Cecilia. “No more past traumas… many things are changing… this is enough! I just want to live a peaceful life like this forever.” her

On the other end of the phone, Frida anxiously asked Yvonne after she had finished the call, “How did it go? Did she agree?”

Yvonne suppressed her displeasure and smiled, “I just called. We can go over now.”

“Really? That’s great!” Frida’s chest, once tight with anxiety, immediately loosened, and she was overjoyed. She couldn’t contain her excitement. Glancing at her clothes, she asked, “Is this outfit suitable?”

“There’s nothing wrong with it; you look great.”

Frida smiled, “No, today is Ethan’s engagement day, and as his mother, I should dress up. This outfit is too plain; I’ll change into something better. I can’t embarrass Ethan with this; he won’t be pleased. You should change, too. Quickly freshen up; we’ll leave in half an hour.”

“Alright, Mom.”

For her mother’s sake, Yvonne had no choice but to agree. She thought to herself, ‘When we arrive, Ethan can’t just kick us out in front of all the guests.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
