The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 547 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 547

The number of attendees from the Arnold family was not extensive. Ethan’s father, Owen, was notably absent, and the reason behind his absence remained a mystery to those outside the Arnold family. However, nobody dared to ask or gossip about the most prominent family in Ventropolis. In high society circles, everyone knew about the dramatic divorce between Frida Young and Owen Arnold.

Owen had two brothers and a sister, all of whom were at the event today. They usually managed different parts of the Arnold Corporation and rarely appeared in public. Madelyn didn’t often cross paths with them in her daily life.

Madelyn greeted each of them one by one and received quite a few gifts. She passed these gifts on to the accompanying servers. The total value of these gifts could easily cover the down payment on a luxury apartment in Ventropolis.

Materially, Ethan spared no expense when it came to Madelyn. She even knew the combination to the safe in his room, which contained nothing but gold bars and cash.

Zach leaned in and whispered something to Jadie. She set down her glass, and Zach promptly replaced it with a new one filled with non- alcoholic fruit juice.

The atmosphere appeared calm, but beneath the surface, tensions were simmering. Hayson squinted his eyes, feigning a smile. “I’ll be entrusting Madelyn to you from now on. She hasn’t endured any hardships from childhood to adulthood. She’s the one I cherish the most. If she ever acts spoiled, I hope you’ll be patient with her. She’s still young.”

Ethan had slicked-back hair and wore a handsome black suit that accentuated his charm. Earlier, he had removed the scar on his neck from a tattoo, which Madelyn had expertly covered with foundation. It was a task typically assigned to a makeup artist, but Ethan had insisted that only she do it.

Ethan gazed affectionately at Madelyn. “Madelyn is going to be my wife soon. No matter what she does, I’ll naturally dote on her. At her age, being a bit willful is to be expected.”

Jadie approached with a glass in her hands, a perfectly placed smile on her lips. “Madelyn, congratulations. You look truly beautiful today, and I’d like to raise a toast to you. I wish you all the happiness in the world. Zach and I will always be family to you. When you have the time, make sure to visit us often. We would be delighted.”

Madelyn clinked her glass with Jadie’s. “Thank you, I will.”

Zach walked up to Jadie, dressed in a well-fitted suit, exuding composure. He put his arm around her shoulders. “I can’t believe how fast Madelyn has grown up. If you ever face any difficulties in the future, know that I’ll be on your side.”

Ethan smirked and stepped forward, slightly turning to stand beside Madelyn. “Madelyn is now part of the Arnold family. Anyone who mistreats her, I won’t let them off. Mr. Jardin, you need not worry about that.”

Zach smiled in response, saying nothing. A waiter approached and whispered something in Madelyn’s ear.

Madelyn nodded, her gaze apologetic as she looked at the group. “I have an important call to take. I’ll be right back. Ethan replied, “Go ahead.”

Madelyn left to retrieve the phone held by the waiter and made her way to the quiet garden outside. The entire hotel had been transformed into a romantic and dreamy setting for the engagement party, with stunning tables and intricate details. Each table was adorned with floral arrangements in pastel shades.

The phone rang again shortly after she hung up. Madelyn answered, “Hello?”

“It’s me,” came Yvonne’s voice. Madelyn recognized Yvonne’s voice and asked, “Is there something you need?”

Yvonne replied, “Has the engagement party ended? I need to ask you a favor.” Even the usually proud Yvonne was speaking humbly to her for the first time.

Madelyn listened as Yvonne spoke, Madelyn, my mother wants to attend your engagement party. But if we just show up without warning, Ethan will be very upset, and his resentment toward her will only grow. So, could you please arrange for her to meet with you guys today? It’s her lifelong dream to see Ethan get engaged, married, and have children. This means the world to her… Will you help me with this, please?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
