The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 503

“Azure Corporation merger?” Hayson looked at Zach questioningly.

Zach smiled while a storm brewed in his eyes. He said emotionlessly, “All in all, I am an employee of the Azure Corporation. I thought, why not let Mr. Arnold converse directly with my father? I have no jurisdiction over making such a decision.”

“Madelyn… what is the meaning of all this?” Hayson furrowed his brows while asking.

Madelyn panicked and said, “Father, I didn’t know about this too. He must be drunk.” She quietly held Ethan’s hand and shook her head, “Ethan, my brother will take care of the company. Let’s not talk about this, okay? I’ll send you back to your room to rest.”

“Alright, if you say so,” Ethan downed his glass of red wine. He did not care how ugly Hayson’s expression was and continued to speak, “Mr. Jardin can discuss this with my father-in-law. After you’re done discussing, you can come to the Arnold Corporation and look for me. I will gladly let the Azure Corporation become the Arnold Corporation’s second largest subsidiary.”

Then, Madelyn led drunk Ethan back to his room. He rarely needed to drink socially; hence, he had low alcohol tolerance. Madelyn proceeded to carry him to the bed. He was in a drunken stupor and had his hands over his eyes. Madelyn tucked him in and said, “I’m going to make a hangover fix. Just bear with this feeling for now.”

Just as she was about to leave, Ethan grabbed her wrist. Madelyn turned to face him and asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Did what I said just now make you angry? You don’t want me to take away Zach’s position in the Azure Corporation, right?” Ethan asked.

Madelyn was stunned. She did not expect him to say so. She sat by the bed and tucked his hands under the blanket. She then said, “No. You’re overthinking it.”

“Liar,” Ethan said while staring at her. “Every time you don’t want to answer me or lie to me, you wouldn’t meet my gaze.”

Madelyn, who got busted, immediately looked at him, “Ethan, my father would never let me interfere in the company’s business. He would never let me manage it. Zach has been the one supporting this family for years. My father has high hopes for him, and he’s doing his best to support the company.

My father also planned to train him to become his successor. If I were to become Mrs. Arnold in the future, I would definitely stand by your side. However, as my father’s daughter, I also hope the company would continue to belong to the Jent family and not a subsidiary to the Arnold family.”

Madelyn continued her explanation, This puts me in a difficult position because it leaves me in the middle. I know you’re doing this because you are uncomfortable with my past with Zach. That’s why you went after him.”

Madelyn sighed, “You actually don’t have to do this. The incident about me liking him is in the past. Besides, Zach is already with Jadie; no one will become a threat to you. As for me, I’m already yours, aren’t I?”

His hands caressed her cheek as he stared affectionately at her. He apologized, “I’m sorry. When I saw him, I couldn’t help but think of everything you’ve done for him. I was just jealous because you were so good to him. Can you promise to treat me as well as you treated him?”

Madelyn grabbed his hand and rubbed her face against his palm, “Mhm, I promise.”

After coaxing him, Madelyn got up and went downstairs. A servant made some tea for Hayson as he sat on the sofa. Madelyn then ordered a servant to make some hangover cure before walking over anxiously. She spoke first, “Father, Ethan had merely said those words out of spite. I’ve already talked to him about it.”

Since Hayson was in front of the Arnold family’s servants, he could not take his anger out on her. She was the future Mrs. Arnold, so he responded, “Hm.”

Jasmine sensed the awkward atmosphere and said, “Everyone has a weakness. I didn’t expect Mr. Arnold to be so obedient toward you. Having you marry him is definitely the correct decision.

“Right, Zach?” Jasmine asked as she gave a fake smile to Zach.

Zach did not lift his gaze. He was still eating the oranges that Jadie had peeled for him. He said, “As long as Madelyn is happy, how could I, her brother, not be happy for her? But I’m quite curious about how Madelyn’s engagement would proceed?”

Zach continued, “If you ever have any need or feel wronged by the Arnold family, you can come and look for me. Okay, Madelyn?”

When he raised his head, a smile crept up his face. Madelyn felt her heart skipped a beat. She felt her fingernails dig deep into her palm as she gripped them tightly.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
