The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 449

Zach insisted on feeding Madelyn a spoonful of chicken soup, but the moment it entered her
stomach, she felt a painful churn. Bent over the edge of the bed, she vomited violently,
expelling the contents of her empty stomach, mostly stomach acid that left a bitter taste in her
mouth.

Still feeling nauseous, Madelyn attempted to get out of bed, and Zach, anticipating her needs,
gently lifted her around the waist and carried her to the bathroom.
Hunched over the toilet, Madelyn continued to retch uncomfortably, the stomach acid causing
searing pain in her esophagus. Zach patted her back.

As moments passed, Madelyn’s breathing quickened, and she grew limp, unable to stand any
longer. Her eyes welled up with tears, and then, she suddenly lost consciousness.
“Madelyn!”

There was no response from Madelyn. Without hesitation, Zach scooped her up and rushed
downstairs.
At SereneCare Hospital, Zach rushed into the emergency room, where Madelyn lay on a
hospital bed connected to an IV drip. Her complexion was ashen. A nurse inquired, “Are you
the patient’s family?”

Zach replied, “Yes.”
The nurse advised, “The patient seems a bit malnourished. You can offer her whatever she’d
like to eat but ensure she doesn’t consume too much at once to prevent stomach discomfort.

We’ll need to keep her under observation here in the hospital, we can provide treatment if necessary.”
Zach nodded in acknowledgment, replying, “Understood.”

Shortly after the nurse departed, Kai entered the room. He wore a faint smile as he remarked,
“It’s quite unusual to see you in this situation. How does it feel to have romantic feelings for
your sister?”

Even though Zach had learned that they were related through Hayson, he found it difficult to
suppress his emotions.
Kai, intrigued by Madelyn’s potential reaction to this revelation, wondered if she would
become even more distressed than she already was.

Zach’s gaze turned cold as he directed it at Kai. “Is there something you want?”
His eyes were cold when he looked at Kai.

Kai dismissively walked forward to glance at Madelyn who was still unconscious. He could tell
she had not been doing well for the past few days.
He thought, ‘Tsk, she’s really been through a lot of suffering!’

Kai said, “Have you ever considered having a DNA test with her? What if you two aren’t
related? We shouldn’t jump to conclusions, right?”
Right at this moment, Madelyn murmured uncomfortably, “Water…”

Addressing Kai, Zach asserted, “It’s not your place to intervene in my matters. Get out!”
Kai raised his hands in a surrendering gesture, still wearing that smile. “We’ve been friends for
so long. It was just a friendly reminder. Forget it. Maybe I overstepped.

You two carry on.”
Before departing, he added with a touch of sarcasm, “You excel in every aspect except oneyou’re heartless. I’ve come to your aid countless times, and now you’re asking me to leave.
Zach, you’ve truly disappointed me.”

When Madelyn eventually woke up, she found Margaret sitting beside her.
With great care, Margaret assisted Madelyn to sit up and placed a pillow behind her back. “Be
careful, it’s hot,” Margaret cautioned as she fed Madelyn some pumpkin soup. Inwardly,
Margaret couldn’t help but think, ‘She can’t eat anything else. This poor girl seems to be in an
even worse situation than me.’

Madelyn finished the bowl of pumpkin soup. It was better than not eating at all. After a few
days of suffering, she had lost some weight.
She asked, “Where’s Zach?”

“Oh, you mean Mr. Jardin? He took care of you throughout the night and left this morning,”
Margaret replied.
Madelyn’s tone turned icy as she issued a command, “Find a locksmith to replace the lock on
the main entrance door of the house and change the password.”

Margaret hesitated, expressing her concern, “But… It might not be a good idea if Mr. Jardin
finds out!”
Madelyn fixed a piercing gaze on Margaret, asking, “Are you working for him?”

“What? No!” Margaret quickly denied it. “I’m just the maid your family hired. I’ll listen to
whoever pays me. But… If your argument with him ends up affecting me and I lose my job,
then I don’t want to do it.” Margaret was being very direct

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
