The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 442 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 442

Madelyn gazed upward at the night sky. Zach followed her gaze but saw nothing, only a pitchblack sky. The weather had not been great the past few days. Suddenly, Zach sensed something was wrong and walked over. However, Madelyn, sitting on the swing, showed no reaction whatsoever.

After a while, Madelyn left the swing and headed back, with Zach following her all along. She
sat on the sofa, turned on the television, and stared at the static screen. Her eyes were devoid
of expression. It continued until four in the morning.

Then, Madelyn turned off the television, kicked off her shoes, and peacefully fell asleep on the sofa with her hands folded on her chest.

Zach, who had finished smoking at the door, discarded the half-smoked cigarette in his hand.
He then carried Madelyn horizontally from the sofa, heading upstairs. As he lifted her, Zach
felt that she was almost weightless. Madelyn had gained some weight at the Arnold residence
but now seemed to have lost it all again.

There were still more than two hours until dawn when Zach placed her on the bed. Madelyn
instinctively rolled to the middle of the bed. Half-asleep, she briefly opened her eyes upon
hearing some noise and soon drifted back to sleep.

Fifteen minutes later, Zach emerged from the bathroom. He draped the robe that Madelyn had
used around himself. The water droplets on his muscular, tanned body blended into the white
cotton robe. On his lean and muscular body, there were noticeable scars that looked like
centipede tracks, especially on his chest, where the fatal wound had been.

Madelyn slept exceptionally soundly after taking a sleeping pill. However, when she woke up
in the morning, she noticed the robe draped over the end of the bed and felt the lingering
warmth on her side.

‘Did Zach come to my room last night? I remember locking all the doors and windows, even
the one on the balcony. There’s no way he could get in unless he can walk through walls.”
Aside from that, Madelyn was surprised to find that her once messy room was now neatly
organized.

However, the pile of snacks she had brought upstairs was gone. Madelyn barely
had any food throughout the entire day yesterday, so her stomach was growling, causing her
some discomfort. However, she did not want to go downstairs, since isolating herself had
become a habit.

Madelyn noticed half a piece of uneaten toast on the table. She hurriedly hopped out of bed
barefoot and began to wolf it down. Just then, the door opened. Zach, dressed in a dark gray
sweater and black casual pants, walked in with food in hand. He saw Madelyn dressed lightly
with tousled hair, eating messily.

With the food still in her mouth, she looked at him with panic.
Zach walked in and placed the food on her dressing table. There was nothing on it, lacking
even basic cosmetics. “Come over and eat.”

His gaze shifted toward her. Startled, Madelyn retreated into the corner. Her eyes darted
around in fear as she still held the half-eaten toast and swallowed the remaining bite. “I-I’m not
hungry.”

Zach watched her timid demeanor, as if she feared he might kill her. Even within the confines
of her home, she lacked a sense of security, resembling a frightened rabbit. Deep down, Zach
knew well this was the consequence of his doing “Really, you’re not hungry? What’s that in your hand, then?”

Madelyn hid what she was holding behind her back. She lowered her head and remained
silent. The aroma of the chicken soup that had simmered all night filled the room, and her
stomach growled loudly.

“Why don’t you come over? Are you planning to starve yourself to death?” Zach asked.
Madelyn retorted coldly, “Who knows what you’ve put in there,”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
