The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 418 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 418

“Miss Jent, didn’t Mr. Arnold come downstairs with you?” asked the servant. Madelyn replied, “He’s probably still asleep.”

“When I went to wake him up earlier, his room was empty.” When Madelyn thought about how Ethan had gone out last night and hadn’t returned all night, a hint of unease flashed across Madelyn’s face.

She said, “Maybe he had some work stuff to attend to, so he went out early.”

“I see.” As Madelyn left, she couldn’t shake the feeling of unease. ‘I wonder if it’s because of the exam tomorrow. I’m feeling a bit nervous.’ At eight ‘o clock, students started to arrive at Ventrocloud High School.

“Did you hear about the incident at Supreme World yesterday? Randall Burton was beaten to death.”

“I saw it; I was at Supreme World at the time. But I don’t know who did it. Police cars and ambulances all showed up. I heard from the room service staff that there was blood everywhere on the ground. Randall Burton is likely to be disabled now.”

“I wonder who he messed with to get beaten so badly.” A girl in the same school uniform, holding a magazine, joined the conversation, “Look at this, there’s breaking news.”

“Holy cow?! Ethan Arnold was the one who beat Randall Burton. Who was he holding by the way? Doesn’t look like Madelyn at all!”

On the magazine cover, Ethan was holding a girl with long blonde hair, wearing a black coat. The paparazzi didn’t capture the woman’s face clearly; the photo only showed a vague profile, and from her figure, she didn’t resemble Madelyn at all.

Many girls held the same magazine in their hands. They all seemed to be thinking the same thing, ‘Oh my goodness, the assaulter can’t be Ethan Arnold, right?’

Randall was also a rich kid in their social circle, and his wild antics were well-known. People speculated that this blonde woman had caught Randall’s eye, and Ethan had come to her rescue, taking her out of the hotel.

The magazine that published this story was the same one that had previously captured Madelyn and Ethan together.

Madelyn got wind of this incident too. Since it had become quite a sensation, topics about Ethan were popping up on her phone. She scrolled through the paparazzi’s photos, thinking, ‘So, Ethan went to rescue Donna last night.’

Even though she felt a bitter mix of emotions, she had been through this kind of thing dozens of times, so her heart had long become numb.

Madelyn decided to switch off her phone and remove the battery to concentrate on her practice exercises. Kennedy approached her, holding a stack of the latest practice books. He then tossed to Madelyn. “Your phone is spoilt?”

“It’s okay. Still usable.”

Since their last conversation, Kennedy had been gradually talking more with Madelyn. She understood why Lem had called him a “freak.” Within the school, he had won numerous awards. Outside of school, he had even started his own tech studio. While it wasn’t large in scale, it had already made quite a bit of money and had patented technologies.

Madelyn thought it was really cool how he managed to do well in school without making it his whole life.

“Feeling nervous about the exam tomorrow?” Madelyn asked, looking at him. He, in a white hoodie, scratched the back of his neck. “Nah, not really. It’s just a regular test for me. If you’re worried, you can practice more with those basic workbooks.”

‘When a genius talks, it’s different,’ she thought. These were practice books you couldn’t easily find in regular stores. Kennedy had given them all to her, so Madelyn thanked him.

After that, he and Lem headed to the field to play ball. Madelyn, on the other hand, pushed aside all distractions and got to work on her exercises.

When she saw the photo of Ethan and Donna together, deep down, she had thought, ‘If they really get back together, maybe I’d be happy for them.’

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
