The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 407

“Pastina is ready.” Rosario carried two bowls of pastina out of the kitchen and put them in front of Madelyn, “I know you don’t like to eat cilantro, so I used chicken as the main ingredient.” Madelyn looked at the vegetable in the bowl and said, “Rosario, I don’t eat spinach.”

Rosario was stunned for a moment. She smiled as she patted her forehead, “I’m so forgetful. It’s been so long since you last came back. I forgot about that. I’ll make you another bowl.”

Madelyn was a little disappointed. In the past, Rosario would never forget about Madelyn’s preferences. “It’s fine, I can just pick them out.” Madelyn spread a tissue on the table before picking out the spinach.

It became quiet suddenly. Madelyn put away her books. When she turned her head, she saw Zach picking out the spinach for her. He said, ” You’re still so picky.”

Rosario chimed in, “Actually, Madelyn is just like Madam. Madam doesn’t like to eat spinach, too.” Madelyn did not respond to that. She just lowered her head and quietly ate the pastina. However, for some reason, it did not taste as good as it used to.

Jadie ate half of the bourbon balls and got tired of it. She then pushed the bowl to Zach, “Zach, it’s too sweet. Can I try your pastina? You can have mine.

“It’s been so long since the three of us ate together. I miss this so much! In the past, Madelyn and I would always give you whatever we couldn’t finish. And you’d always tell us not to waste food.”

Rosario went to clean up the kitchen, leaving the three of them in the living room. Jadie was eating Zach’s pastina. But he did not eat her bourbon balls. He did not really like to eat sweet things, either.

Madelyn could not finish her pastina. She got up and wanted to walk to the kitchen. Zach said, “Madelyn, if you can’t finish it, you can give it to me.”

Madelyn tightened her grip on the bowl. Jadie chimed in, “You can give it to me. I’m not full yet.” Madelyn lowered her eyes and said, “I have a cold. I don’t want to pass it on to you two.” After she said that, she went to the kitchen and threw the food away.

She thought, ‘We’re all just pretending to be friendly to each other. They didn’t have to care about me.’ Madelyn put the bowl back in the cupboard after she washed it.

Rosario said, “You could just leave it to me to wash after you finished eating. You shouldn’t be doing house chores.” Madelyn smiled faintly, “It’s fine.”

“Do you do this at the Arnold residence? To be honest, I’ve watched you grow up. Your own home is always better than other people’s house. I’m concerned about you staying at someone else’s place. Why don’t you move back in? I haven’t seen you for quite a few days. And you’ve lost quite a lot of weight. It breaks my heart to see you like this.”

Madelyn gave Rosario a contemplative look. She then turned her head and used a tissue to wipe her hands, “He treats me very well. Don’t worry.”

Rosario smiled wistfully, “You’ve become much more sensible compared to last time. And you aren’t attached to me anymore.”

Madelyn said, “People grow up. I can’t remain a child forever.” As soon as she finished talking, she saw a beam of light quickly flashed across the wall. When she saw the familiar car, she knew it was him.

At that moment, the phone in her pocket rang. Madelyn smiled as she answered the phone call. “Are you ready? I’ve come to pick you up.”

“Yes. I’ll be right out.” Madelyn grabbed her backpack from the couch and said, “I’ll leave now.”

Jadie was bending over, wiping the table.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
