The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 379

Madelyn knew not to inquire about these matters. From her experience, once a man acquired money and status, they would naturally search for other women. It seemed like an ordinary matter to her because both Hayson and Zach did it. Perhaps that was why Madelyn was willing to give her heart out to someone again. It was because Ethan gave her a sense of security that she had never felt before.

Although Madelyn did not question him, that did not mean she did not care. She merely hoped that Ethan would not betray her emotionally, mentally, or physically. If Ethan did betray Madelyn one day, she would not know who to trust anymore.

After placing their things in the car, Ethan brought her to the beach, where they held hands while walking by the seaside, Ethan would occasionally smoothen Madelyn’s hair. With their fingers intertwined, Madelyn looked at the people walking before them. She felt a sense of peace and tranquility that she had never felt before.

“Are you cold?” Ethan asked. “I’m not cold,” Madelyn answered. Then, Ethan buttoned up her coat and asked, “Do you like this spot?”

They then continued to walk on this never-ending pathway. “I like it. I’ve never been here before, so thank you for bringing me here,” Madelyn thanked Ethan.

“You’ve never been here before?” Ethan asked. Madelyn nodded her head, “Mhm, I’ve been busy with studies, so I haven’t had much time to travel. I was originally going to participate in a camp last year, but my father didn’t let me.”

“Camp?’ Ethan thought. His gaze darkened because he knew Forrest had also participated in the camp last year.

“That’s true. How about I bring you on a graduation trip when you graduate?” Ethan offered. Ethan assumed she would accept it. Unexpectedly, Madelyn declined, “It’s fine. My father’s already enrolled me in extracurricular classes, so I’ll be busy this semester break.”

“That’s fine. It’s up to you,” Ethan said. Not far away, a man wearing a black baseball cap and carrying a high-end camera was standing. He carefully timed his pictures as he took pictures of them. Although their faces were not visible in the picture, he managed to capture their side profiles.

It was the side profile of a handsome Ethan staring affectionately at the person next to them. They had their hands intertwined together. From their silhouette, you could see that they were a matching couple, and they both looked beautiful. The photographer also captured many pictures of the same scene, such as when Ethan tied a scarf to Madelyn’s neck. With every glance, his handsome looks were able to captivate millions of girls. As for Madelyn, her figure and face would definitely make her a big star if she went into the entertainment business.

‘I wonder which company this celebrity model comes from. I’ve got to sign them over later, so we’ll have material for our magazine cover!’ The photographer thought.

As for Ethan and Madelyn, they never noticed they were being photographed. They were tired from walking, so they returned to the hotel to rest. Their rooms were opposite each other.

Madelyn lay on the bed and saw that her phone was low on battery, so she turned it off and left it to charge on the bedside drawer. It was two in the afternoon, and Madelyn lay down to take a nap.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
