The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 349 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 349

“Why’d you come to the school?” Madelyn asked, catching her breath with her hand on her chest.

“George called me and told me you hadn’t come home yet. I thought you might still be at school,” Ethan said, giving a smile. “I was worried since it’s late, so I came to check on you. I didn’t expect the students here to be so enthusiastic.”

Madelyn and Ethan rode the elevator down to the first floor. Madelyn looked anxiously back at Leyton, still upstairs. “You’re such a big shot, most people don’t get to see you,” she said. “You could’ve just given me a call.” “I tried to call, but your phone was off, Ethan said.

“Oh!” Madelyn exclaimed, finally realizing. “I turned my phone off during the test. I’m sorry. You don’t have to wait for me; you’ve got a lot of work to do.”

“How could I not worry when you’re alone?” he asked. Madelyn’s lips lifted into a smile. Nobody had ever been this kind to her.

“Leyton parked the car at the school entrance, so it’s a bit of a walk,” Ethan said. “Do you want me to carry you?” Madelyn shook her head. “No, that’s okay. I’m not tired, just a bit sleepy. Let’s go home.”

Suddenly, Ethan bent down and scooped her up into his arms. Madelyn was so surprised that she instinctively clung onto his neck. “There are still people around who haven’t left class,” she said. “We’ll be seen.”

“So what if they see us? I’m carrying my own girlfriend. Nobody can say anything about that.” Madelyn was worried about Ethan’s legs. His recovery was taking time, and he was not fully healed yet. “If you get tired, just put me down.”

“It’s okay. I’m not tired.” They walked down the quiet path with lights illuminating the way. In the light beams, it looked like snowflakes were falling. Ethan’s steps were slow, wishing the path could be a little longer. A big snowflake fell on his shoulder, and he looked up.

“It’s snowing, Madelyn.” No response. He looked down at Madelyn in his arms and saw that she had fallen asleep. Snowflakes landed on her long, dark eyelashes, making her skin look as pale and delicate as a fairytale princess.

As they left the school grounds, Leyton had already pulled up in the car. From a nearby black car, someone said, “Isn’t that Madelyn in his arms? Why’s she still at school so late? Zach… Is Madelyn really not coming home?”

Zach’s eyes darkened, and his face revealed an indescribable chill. “It’s her house. Why wouldn’t she come back?”

Madelyn slept soundly all the way to the Arnold residence. Ethan carried her upstairs, and Leyton followed with her backpack. Madelyn instinctively rolled into the covers as soon as she hit the bed. Ethan tucked her in and quietly closed the door. He also turned off her phone that was in her backpack.

“Tomorrow, help her get an hour off school. Have one of the maids wake her up around 7:30.” “An hour? What if she oversleeps, misses a class, and gets upset?”

“Compared to her health, nothing else matters.”

She had surgery and stayed at home to get better for two weeks. But she was not very strong. If she had not been carefully looked after for the past month, she would have gotten sicker. “Should we still give her the medicine?”

“Just for the last two weeks. We can’t stop now.”

“Yes, boss.” In the darkness, Madelyn woke up. She heard every word of the conversation outside the door. She pressed a hand to her racing heart, feeling overwhelmed. ‘ Is this what it feels like to be cared for?’ In the past, Madelyn had gotten a cold and a fever one night. When Zach came home and could not find her, he asked the maid how she was. When he found out she was sick, he had just said, “It’s just a cold. She won’t die.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
