The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 348

Madelyn picked up some paperwork from the office and then went to the special class. It felt more like a boot camp than a regular class. It was supposed to end at 9 pm, but it often went on until 10:30 pm. An elderly man, probably in his late sixties, taught the class. He always had reading glasses perched on his nose.

Every single session ended with a test that lasted for an hour and a half, and no student could leave until they had finished. If anyone answered carelessly, they had to copy the questions a hundred times. Even after finishing, students had to stay seated for the entire test time before they could leave. Madelyn covered her mouth as she yawned, unaware of the people crowding outside the door.

“Madelyn sure works hard,” Leyton said outside the window. “She’s busy from 7 am to 10 pm every day. Even after getting home, she has to do homework until midnight.”

Ethan peered through the window, a gentle smile in his dark eyes. “She’s just doing what people her age should be doing. She’s always been outstanding, hasn’t she?”

Leyton nodded in agreement. Some people are naturally gifted at learning, and still get the best results even without putting in any effort. Others are not as lucky and have to work hard to achieve success.

The classroom buzzed with excitement when someone noticed the people outside the window. “Who’s that?”

“It’s not Ethan Arnold, is it?”

“No way! He’s the CEO of Arnold Corporation. What’s he doing here?” The special class had students from other schools in town and even some from schools far away. Some of them might not have known about Ethan. He was the CEO of Arnold Corporation and was even on the cover of a popular celebrity magazine. He was super popular because of his dashing good looks, and anyone who did not know him would be called out for being ignorant. It was not everyday one got to see someone like Ethan.

Madelyn rested her head in her hands and shut her eyes to rest. When she heard the noise in the classroom, she looked outside, curious. She saw a man in a black suit outside the window and stopped. ‘Why’s he here?’ she wondered.

Hank Jordan, the teacher with reading glasses, looked up from his desk at the front of the room and cleared his throat a few times.

He thought they would quiet down, but someone started the commotion, and students rushed out one after another. ” What a dream guy!” Madelyn’s desk was nearly swept along with the commotion. Watching everyone run out, she was genuinely shocked. In just a few minutes, the classroom was empty.

Madelyn felt embarrassed as she caught the thoughtful gaze of the teacher at the front. Who knew Ethan’s arrival would cause such a commotion. Hank said, “Hand in your papers. Once I grade them, you can leave.”

Madelyn quickly handed in her papers and looked back. Ethan was surrounded by so many people that she could barely see him. If Ethan was not taller than everyone else, she would have had a hard time finding him amongst the crowd.

“What are you doing in this special class with such good scores? Didn’t Mr. Newton let you go right in?”

“Well, there were some extenuating circumstances, so I had to take some time off. When I came back, the Math Olympiad class was already full, so I had to come to this special class.”

“You being here is a waste of a spot in this special class,” Hank said, looking at her name. “Are you that Madelyn Jent who hasn’t been here for two weeks?”

“Mr. Jordan, I… I was sick and had to take some time off.” “Alright, you can go. And take that guy with you; he’s causing a disruption,” Hank said.

“Yes, sir.” Madelyn quickly gathered her things, slung her backpack over her shoulder, pushed through the crowd, and got Ethan out of there.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
