The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1304

“L-Liam…” Ixia said.

She desperately reached out to grab Liam’s hand. But before she could touch him, he walked away.

Julian was furious when he saw that. He raised his hand and slapped Ixia hard across her face. “Look at what you’ve done.”

“You hit me! How dare you hit me?! What right do you have to hit me? I was always polite to you. You’re only my dad because my mom likes you. Otherwise, you’re nothing. Even my real dad never hit me like this!

“This is my home, not yours. Get out!”

Julian’s gaze turned fierce instantly. ” Try saying it one more time.”

“I just said it, so what?! You’re only interested in my family’s money; that’s why you married my mom. You wouldn’t even be in this family without her. You abandoned your wife and son just to get into my family.”

“Shut up!” Ixia’s words hurt Julian deeply. He looked menacing as he lifted his hand and slapped her again, putting almost all his strength into it.

Ixia fell to the ground from the slap. A clear handprint could be seen on her face, and there was a trickle of blood at the corner of her mouth.

Lylia looked at the handprint on Ixia’s face, which had already turned purple. She immediately slapped Julian without any hesitation. “How dare you hit her? Julian Xander, who do you think you are to hit my precious daughter? Let me tell you, this family doesn’t need you!”

Liam, standing outside the door, listened to the commotion inside. He then walked away briskly with an indifferent expression.

Ixia covered her face and cried while looking at Julian in disbelief. “You hit me. You actually laid hands on me. I’ll tell my grandpa. If he finds out that you hit me, he won’t spare you.”

Julian responded, “You don’t need to leave. Lylia, if you want to get a divorce, let’s do it. If your precious daughter ruins my plans again, I won’t spare her. 11

He then turned and headed upstairs to take away several important documents from the study and left the villa with his laptop bag.

“Julian Xander, if you leave, don’t ever come back,” Lylia shouted hysterically behind Julian.

Julian had endured Lylia and Ixia enough. He stopped walking outside the door and said, “I’ll have my lawyer send the divorce agreement over later.”

Lylia did not expect him to want a divorce. “Stop! Julian! You stop right there!”

Next week was Liam’s wedding day, coinciding with the election. Julian would undoubtedly become the next mayor of Ventropolis.

Lylia was envied by many in their circle for being the future mayor’s wife. If she divorced Julian now, she would not get anything apart from this villa.

Julian was well-known in the political circle for his good reputation. He never engaged in any bribery. He only earned a salary of around twenty thousand dollars a month, with some allowances. Back then, apart from his connections, he got this position mainly because the Harper family noticed him. That was how he managed to stay in his current position for so long.

“No! We can’t get divorced!” Lylia shouted.

Ixia cried. “Mom, he hit me. Why don’t you care about me?”

Lylia crouched down to grab Ixia’s shoulders as she persuaded her earnestly. She said, “Ixia, you need to understand this. Right now, we can only rely on each other. If Julian divorces me, we won’t get anything. Do you understand?

“He has secured the position of mayor, but he doesn’t want me to become the mayor’s wife. However it is, I won’t let him succeed. I won’t divorce him even if I die. Ixia, you must endure this until the day he officially takes office. By then, we’ll have influence over the entire Ventropolis.”

Ixia replied, “Mom, I didn’t mean what I said just now. I was just mad. I really like Liam, but why won’t he marry me?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
